Description of Job GENERAL SUMMARY Provides high-quality for-credit instruction, non-credit training and program support to meet students, community and businessesu2019 needs. Assists Senior Welding Trainer with instruction, program coordination and development, shop related activities in areas to include but not limited to material/metal processing, supply management, data collection, demonstration of safe work practices, preventative maintenance, lab area cleaning and proper equipment use. CCD is currently seeking to fill two full-time positions: one for morning and afternoon classes and another for afternoon and evening classes. These are full-time, in-person,12-month faculty positions. Duties and Responsibilities PRIMARY DUTIES Training and Instruction u00b7 Effectively prepares and teaches assigned for-credit and non-credit classes in accordance with scheduled times and places. u00b7 Conducts student assessments in accordance with established criteria. u00b7 Maintains accurate student records in accordance with client requirements and college policies. u00b7 Provides a safe and secure learning environment. u00b7 Duties include processing metal, raw material, or other materials as needed. u00b7 Coordinate material handling responsibilities with AMC Lab Coordinator. u00b7 Cleaning and maintaining lab area equipment (changing belt grinder belts, band saw blades, cleaning filtration units or other tasks as needed). u00b7 Developing inventory, supply management and data collection. u00b7 Support other instructors as needed. Activities related to program development, maintenance and improvement u00b7 Coordinate with Senior Welding Trainer to develop course materials. u00b7 Identify and promote opportunities for process improvement and quality control/assurance. u00b7 Coordinate with Director to develop standards for competency-based education modules and Credit for Prior Learning to assist in the assessment of individual's skills for entry into credit certificate or diploma programs. u00b7 Coordinate with AMC Lab Coordinator and Director to improve workflow processes, inventory control, and material preparation. u00b7 Other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Education:(Minimum/Required) Thorough training in welding techniques and methodology. Experience: :(Minimum/Required) u00b7 At least three years' experience in operations in Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Oxyfuel cutting (OFC), Oxyacetylene Welding (OAW), Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC), Carbon Arc Cutting with Air (CAC-A), blueprint reading, and OSHA regulations. u00b7 Experience welding and cutting a variety of materials including but not limited to steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, in a variety of gages of plate and variety of schedule pipe. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (Minimum/Required) u00b7 Expert knowledge of welding concepts and techniques. u00b7 Blueprint reading skills. u00b7 Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint and Word to create data collection tools, gradebooks, presentations and documents as needed. u00b7 Use computers and tablets in the delivery of instruction, course material development, data collection or other tasks as needed. u00b7 Strong teamwork skills. u00b7 Ability to work with a diverse group of people. u00b7 Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. u00b7 Strong conflict resolution skills. u00b7 Customer service skills. u00b7 Knowledge of safe work practices. Licensure/Certification: (Required) Itu2019s required that the employee obtains the following certificates: u00b7 Within one year of date of hire: u00b7 Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification or Certified Welding Educator (CWE) u00b7 Forklift operation certification. u00b7 Within two years of date of hire: u00b7 Sit for either the CWI or CWE certification, whichever one was not earned within the first year. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: (Preferred) Associateu2019s degree or higher in Welding, Fabrication, or a related Skilled Trades degree. Experience: (Preferred) u00b7 Experience as a welding instructor in a post-secondary institution or job experience training other employees. u00b7 Experience with corporate client training. u00b7 Weld inspection. Licensure/Certification: (Preferred) u00b7 Welding certification in one or more process: SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, GMAW. u00b7 Certified Welding Inspector. u00b7 Certified Welding Educator. u00b7 Current CPR and First Aid certifications. u00b7 OSHA 10 or OSHA 30. Equipment Used: A variety of equipment to include but not limited to track torches, metal shear, benders, welding equipment (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, OAW, OFC, CAC-A, PAC), band saws, grinders, belt grinders, and other electric or pneumatic tools used in welding or metal fabrication, including forklift usage.
