Job Description

The Community and Collaboration Core at the Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) is seeking a _Communications Specialist_ to join our team. If you have training in health communications and social media, experience in project management and event planning, and a passion for working with diverse stakeholders in collaborative planning, we want to hear from you. If you are effective in project planning and implementation, enthusiastic about learning innovative OTS (u201coff-the-shelf') software as part of developing infographics, reports, and videos (e.g., Canva, Sway, Adobe Creative Suite), we invite you to apply. The Communications Specialist contributes to the integrated and comprehensive approach to brand building and provides communications support for a department, center, or program. Will write and produce printed and digital communications material. The Communications Specialist is responsible for the communication and marketing of events and partners with internal and/or external stakeholders to ensure engagement with the appropriate audience while maximizing visibility and recognition. Specific Duties & Responsibilities _Support team communications in public health, research dissemination, and training opportunities_ + Write social media posts and assist with the promotion of content (e.g., public health messaging, health research promotion) via social media. + Capture and report social media post analytics. + Develop, organize, and maintain digital asset file database (photos, videos, infographics, illustrations). + Coordinate the activities of the Social Innovation Team to support the development and implementation of multimedia health promotion activities. + Contribute to editing and updating existing digital team web content. + Assist with the development of print materials, including study and educational materials, into language that is understandable to a lay audience. _Through project management, implement activities and processes to complete deliverables on-time and on-budget_ + Develop and maintain process metrics tools and databases to track CCC outreach and community education activities. + Develop SOP as needed to document effective processes. + Use OTS software (e.g., Office 365, Qualtrics) for project tracking, collection of data, report generation. + Create output reports, as needed. _Coordinate education and outreach activities_ + Work closely with CCC staff to plan, implement, and evaluate community outreach and education activities that are often held in community-based settings. + Collaborate with CCC partners to organize education and outreach activities. + Oversee and implement sustained engagement strategies (e.g., gift cards, birthday and birth cards, reminder calls/texts) to ensure high rates of sustained active participation in CCC activities. + Identify evidence-based strategies and promising practices to promote sustained community engagement with CCC activities. _Oversee & Contribute to Publication Writing_ + Contribute to preparation of presentations for conferences and writing of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. _Perform administrative duties, particularly related to project coordination and implementation of activities_ + Schedule meetings, record meeting notes, and arrange meeting logistics. + Coordinate scheduling of student employees. + Create and maintain documents related to project coordination (policies and procedures manuals, study tracking logs, and study timelines). + Generate progress reports. _Facilitate payment of community partners_ + Assist with other projects and emerging priorities as needed. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications + Bachelor's Degree in a related field. + Two years of related experience. + A commitment to health equity and an understanding of the importance and impact of building community trust in health care and science. + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/ graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. + Competency with software programs as part of daily activities using Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications + Experience in managing activities and project deliverables. + Knowledge of, and experience working with, communities within the Baltimore metropolitan area. + Event planning experience. + Experience in social media communication. + Basic knowledge of the principles of health behaviors, health disparities, and community outreach and education. + Enthusiastic about learning and/or experience working with innovative OTS software as part of developing infographics, reports, and videos (e.g., Canva, Sway, Adobe Creative Suite). + Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus. Classified Title: Communications Specialist Role/Level/Range: ATP/03/PB Starting Salary Range: $46,200 - $80,800 Annually ($55,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
