Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflightThis role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is requiredAs part of an outstanding and highly-skilled team, you'll be responsible for structural analysis of New Glenn Second Stage primary and secondary structures; as well as developing analysis processes. This is a hands-on position that involves all aspects of structural analysis throughout design, assembly, testing, and flight operations.Note: This is a 12-15 month fixed-term position with full benefits.Responsibilities:Complete hand calculation and FEM analyses to report margins of safety for primary and secondary aerospace structuresDocumentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings / documentsUnderstanding of repair methods and analytical practices for both composite and metallic structureCollaborate closely with designers, providing technical guidance on design concepts (risk vs. cost vs. performance)Supporting cross organizational teams with input for production activities and configuration developmentAnalysis checks for designers and junior structural analysts in stress/stability/fracture analysis and standard processesImproving enterprise analysis capabilities such as crafting process automation tools for model creation, strength checks, and analysis report generationProvide technical guidance and on-site support for manufacturing, production, and integration activitiesPrepare technical content and present to internal customersPerform research, develop concepts, and run trade studiesMinimum Qualifications:Minimum of a B.S. degree (M.S. preferred) in engineering and 2+ years of experience with aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicle structures, or automotiveProven expertise with one or more of the following analysis codes, particularly with reading and manipulating input files: Nastran, Hyperworks, Optistruct, AnsysUnderstanding of FEM modeling techniques (boundary conditions, bolted connections, contact, verification methods)Strong fundamental understanding of structural load pathsStrong skills with free-body diagrams for internal and reaction load derivationFamiliarity with classical aerospace sizing methods (ex: Bruhn, Niu, Roark)Analysis of composite and/or metallic flight structures (sandwich panels, skin-stringer, fittings, isogrid, joints, or similar)Familiarity with typical failure modes and standard test methods for both composite and metallic structures (e.g., shear tear-out, net section failure, torsion buckling, interlaminar shear, etc)Analysis of stability critical structures (local buckling phenomenon, global buckling, crippling)Mesh generation (ex: mid-surfacing) and understanding of element typesBolted joint calculations (bolt preload, joint stiffness, shear-tension interaction, insert pull-out, shims)Able to effectively communicate and collaborate across teamsSelf-motivated with a strong desire to learn, take ownership, and drive projects to completionCollaborative a
