Geotechnical/Construction Materials Testing Technicians are responsible forperforming field and laboratory testing of materials used inconstruction in accordance with published standards and Westwoodlaboratory policies and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities Geotechnical andconstruction materials testing of soil, aggregates, concrete, andasphalt mixes on renewable energy, commercial, municipal, and WisDOTprojects Perform asphalt mix laboratory testing (including grain sizeanalysis of extracted asphalt, extraction of asphaltic paving mixtures,bulk specific gravity, and theoretical max specific gravity). Performsoil and asphalt compaction/density testing on multiple projects forconformance to project specifications. Test concrete during placement atproject sites for conformance to project specifications. Obtain asphaltmix, soil, and aggregate samples from the field and deliver them to thelaboratory for testing. Prepare and submit written daily field reportssummarizing daily activities/observations, test calculations, andresults. Communicate with laboratory office and on-site personnel aboutthe schedule, testing requirements, and results. Calibrate, repair, andperform routine maintenance on field and laboratory equipment andlaboratory workspace. Organize and process test samples in the lab.Perform laboratory tests and report laboratory test data. This positionis subject to a background check with driving record check and randomdrug testing in order to drive a company vehicle when needed for fieldwork. Expected work hours during the summer are 8:00am to 5:00pm Mondaythrough Friday; however, occasional early and later days may berequested based on workload. Required Skills Good analytical andorganizational skills with the capability to problem solve. The abilityto maintain a clean and orderly workspace/vehicle is required. Abilityto lift 50 lbs.
