JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) seeks aninnovative academic leader to serve as Chairperson of the MathematicsDepartment. The position is a 12-month appointment reporting to theExecutive Vice President of Academics, with an anticipated start date inAugust 2026. The Chairperson will lead the Mathematics Department atMSOE in achieving its vision to empower students with criticalmathematical knowledge and reasoning skills needed for success in theiracademic studies and future careers. The department provides students inMSOE's STEM-oriented degree programs with foundational materialessential to their fields of study. The department also houses MSOE'sBachelor of Science in Actuarial Science program. The ideal candidatefor Department Chairperson of Mathematics will have extensive teachingexperience and pedagogical knowledge in mathematics, as well as academicleadership experience. The department seeks a collaborative leadercapable of working with a diverse team to promote student success amidthe current challenges in mathematics education and the changinglandscape of higher ed. Recruit, appoint, evaluate, and plan professional developmentfor faculty in the academic department. Determine the teaching anddepartmental assignments for the members of the department each term.Prepare an annual budget request for submission to the chief academicofficer, manage budget and approve expenditures. Consult with thedepartment faculty on teaching methodology, course syllabidocumentation, and textbook selection, as appropriate.
