Requisition ID: 178927 Job Level: Senior Level Home District/Group: Kiewit Power Delivery Department: Design Engineering Market: Power Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Substation Engineering Manager to lead and expand our engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to shape a rapidly growing Power Delivery group while supporting major utilities and transmission & distribution clients across the country. As the Substation Engineering Manager, you will oversee a team of engineers and designers responsible for delivering high voltage substation projects ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV. Youu2019ll play a key role in team development, technical leadership, and project execution, supporting both engineering only and EPC project models. Location This position is based out of our office in Columbus, OH. Responsibilities u2022 Build, mentor, and manage a local team of substation engineers and designers. u2022 Provide technical leadership across substation physical (primary) and protection & control (secondary) design. u2022 Oversee development of engineering deliverables, including: u2022 One line and three line diagrams u2022 General arrangements and equipment layouts u2022 Grounding, lightning protection, and conduit/cable routing plans u2022 Protection & control schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts u2022 Bills of material, specifications, and construction packages u2022 Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering efforts with civil, structural, transmission, and SCADA/communications teams. u2022 Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. u2022 Ensure engineering work meets quality standards, technical requirements, and client expectations. u2022 Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to support EPC execution, constructability reviews, and field issue resolution. u2022 Contribute to business growth by improving processes, developing standards, and supporting proposals and estimating. Qualifications u2022 10+ years of experience performing engineering related duties and/or management for substation projects. u2022 P.E. license required u2022 Knowledge of engineering and construction standards and processes including scheduling, contracts, coordinating and managing all disciplines u2022 Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight u2022 Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) or Graduate degree in Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited university u2022 Strong attention to detail; strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills. u2022 Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). u2022 Competitive - demonstrating the desire to win the project and grow the team through leadership and teamwork. u2022 Must be able to communicate through emails and utilize electronic meeting requests. u2022 Must be able to represent Kiewit manner to owners, contractors, vendors and any other contacts outside the Kiewit organization. u2022 Ability to work in a growing, adaptive and multi-discipline team environment u2022 Legally able to work within the United States for any length of time.
