The Medical Assistant (MA) supports the mission of People's Community Clinic by helping ensure that patients are served in a manner that enhances their dignity and welfare and that clinic resources are used efficiently and in accordance with People's Community Clinic policies and risk management protocols.This position works as a member of a care team to coordinate patient care and support patients and families in self-management, self-efficacy, and behavior change. Care team members are expected to assess and manage the health needs of the patient population and to communicate effectively with all patients, especially vulnerable populations.Location:1101 Camino La Costa, Austin, TX 78752 (North Clinic)Compensation:$19.25 - $25.25 per hour based on experience and qualificationsHours (Full Time):Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PMWork as a member of the health care team to assure excellent patient care:Greet patients and escort them to assigned examination roomDocument appropriate history, vital signs and chief complaint for visit typePrepare the patient for appropriate visit typeAssist the provider during treatment and/or proceduresAdminister and store medications according to clinic policyMake referrals as appropriate and necessary, as per procedureCollect lab specimens and escort patients to labAdminister immunizations and injections as appropriate and requestedIdentify opportunities to improve work flow, work processes and patient care, and work cooperatively to implement these and other quality improvements.Adhere to HIPAA guidelinesEducation: High School Diploma/GEDSuccessful completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited school preferredExperience: Successful completion of medical assistant externship preferredCertificate/License:Certification must be completed within the first 90 days of employment and may be reimbursed by PCC.Medical Assistant CertificationCPR CertifiedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Bilingual in English/Spanish preferredDemonstrated knowledge of protocols for MAs relating to patient care, provider assistance, exam rooms and records maintenanceExcellent customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with a diverse populationSelf-starter; able to work with minimal supervisionStrong oral and written communication skillsPatient, flexible and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentOur Benefits Include:18 PTO days per year & 11 paid holidaysMajor Medical Health Insurance Coverage.
