DescriptionJob Title: Red Shield Program AideFLSA Status: Part Time - non-exemptReports to: Red Shield Program Manager & Asst. Red Shield Program ManagerRate of Pay: $14.81/hrClosing Date: 8/26/2025Benefits: Standard; Part-Time, Non-Exempt employees are eligible for but not limited to the following:Sick leave benefit - 1 day per month, 12 sick days per year (accrual and availability begins at hire; sick time accrual is pro-rated for part-time hours.)Vacation benefit - 10 vacation days per year, accrued at the rate of .0385 hours for each hour worked, excluding overtime (accrual begins at hire but may not be used until the completion of six months of employment; vacation accrual is pro-rated for part time hours.)Scope of Position/Essential Functions:The Red Shield Program Aide will work daily with the youth in the center to build relationships and foster a friendly and safe environment for youth to grow and thrive.u00a0To accomplish this, the After School Program Aide will work with Program Leaders and Directors as a team in delivering programs that best meets the ever-changing needs of our youth.Qualification and Education Requirements:Must be 18 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent3 months of full-time or equivalent part-time verifiable experience working with children.Responsibilities:Assist with the afterschool and summer programming where needed, assisting with supervision, guidance, and caring for children in an educational, enrichment and recreational settingAssist Program Lead with supervision in afterschool pickups from district D-11 schoolAssist Program Lead with Summer Day Camp transportation supervision to and from scheduled eventsThis position will often provide leadership support to Corps ministry components that are integrated into the afterschool and summer program.Childcare licensing complianceProvide encouraging instruction to students during group activities.Assist the Manager or Leads in the planning, teaching of lessons, homework support, and activities.Assist with food preparation, serving, and clean up.Developing partnerships with parents and responsive relationships with children.Assist in maintaining discipline and encouraging all children to follow rules.Assist in general set up and cleanup of program area and assist with the opening/closing of the facility.Supervise rotations with sign-in and sign-outLead activitiesOversee the supervision of all children and ensure Program Aides are supervising children as requiredMake sure each child is accounted for alwaysMaintain a safe environmentReport all issues (no matter how small) to the Red Shield DirectorAttend mandatory Staff TrainingsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:Must be 18yrs of age for positionAble to establish and cultivate healthy relationships with children and parentsPreferred history of providing professional, effective programming with children and familiesDesire to serve others by building on their strengthsTeachable spiritCompetent in working independently within clear parameters in a team environmentSelf-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented individual who demonstrates strong interpersonal skillsAbility to take initiative and work creativelyCommunicates clearlyAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamAbility to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audienceAbility to handle several projects and prioritize workCommitment to social inclusionAttention to detail and ability to maintain recordsAbility to follow protocol and adhere to program and external proceduresDriving is NOT required for this position.The Salvation Army Mission StatementThe Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.u00a0Its message is based on the Bible.u00a0Its ministry is motivat d by the love of God.u00a0Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.Acknowledgement of Religious Purposes of The Salvation ArmyI have been informed and understand The Salvation Army's religious purpose and status as a church.
