This position is responsible for formally onboarding the new permanent hire, providing direct training on complex systems and processes, and offering immediate support for critical departmental functions. Location and Work environment: Remote Primary Responsibilities: The primary focus is training, mentorship, and system support, drawing directly from the original role's responsibilities: Training and Onboarding - 50% Conduct structured training sessions on all essential duties of the Business Analyst role, including: Developing and maintaining queries, reports, and dashboards using the University's data reporting/BI systems (UM Analytics). Navigating and utilizing core financial system modules related to procurement, payables, travel, and card programs (e.g., PeopleSoft). Executing assigned oversight queries and necessary corrective action. Consultation and Support - 30% Provide real-time, high-level guidance, troubleshooting, and support to the new Business Analyst on complex issues, specifically: System Analyst Duties: Assisting with troubleshooting system issues related to U Market (eProcurement), targeted suppliers, and process improvements. Account Reconciliations: Consulting on the investigation of discrepancies and the preparation of required institutional year-end financial schedules. Escalation Management: Guiding the new hire on appropriate escalation procedures to Module Support and OIT. Knowledge Documentation & Review - 20% Collaborate with the new hire to refine and formalize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and departmental knowledge bases. Review early work products, such as newly created reports or data formatting, to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards and guidelines. Document system workarounds, nuances, and department-specific processes that are not formally recorded. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Subject Matter Expertise: Deep, demonstrated knowledge of all essential duties of the Business Analyst role, including financial system reporting, system analysis, and account reconciliation. Systems Expertise: Comprehensive working experience with the University's enterprise financial system (PeopleSoft), Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse tools, and procurement systems (e.g., Jaggaer, U Market). Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical and financial processes to a trainee. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $62.11 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
