JOB REQUIREMENTS: Village of Allouez TITLE Engineering TechnicianREPORTS TO Director of Public Works FLSA STATUS Non-Exempt TYPE FullTime POSITION SUMMARY The Engineering Technician is responsible for thepreparation and maintenance of engineering plans, maps, and recorddrawings to approved standards for public works projects. This positionserves as a project representative for the inspection of public worksprojects. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties arerepresentative of the work required for this position. These are not tobe construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be requiredand assigned. Design and prepare construction drawings for utility andstreet construction projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D software. Assistswith the preparation of construction estimates, bid specifications andrelated material. Coordinates street and utility work with privateutilities, DNR and Village residents. Prepares record drawings of thecompleted construction projects. Imports 2D linework into GIS for theupdating of Village mapping. Creates, maintains and updates street andutility system records, maps, record drawings and plans. Prepares mapsto track the progress of various Street Department activities forinternal and public reference. Inspects public works constructionprojects to ensure work is completed according to the specifications andplans. Coordinates work with contractors, maintains contact withresidents, coordinates testing, field measures the completed work,reviews and approves pay requests and change orders. Maintains andupdates the AutoCAD Civil 3D software. Assists in the maintenance of theVillage's GIS System. Assists with the issuance of Village permits.Assists with the State of Wisconsin PASER street condition reporting.Assists with the preparation of the annual mileage map and report.Participate with the local technical group of Brown County/GISspecialists to assist in improving efficiency, standards andimprovements as developed by this user group. Assists with themaintenance of the Public Works website. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, ANDQUALIFICATIONS Associate degree in civil engineering technology orrelated field and working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D design required.Experience in the construction of streets, sewers, water utilityinstallations, and other work pertinent to public works and municipalprojects desired. Possess a valid driver's license. SKILLS ANDABILITIES Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D software and able to prepareplans for street and utility projects. Knowledge of the methods,materials, and procedures for street, water and sewer design, andconstruction. Knowledge of the modern principals and practices of civilengineering technology. Knowledge of construction procedures, projectestimating, final quantity computations, bid tabulations, and projectmanagement. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Able to complete assigned projects without detailed instructions andwith minimum supervision. Must work cooperatively with others and dealtactfully and effectively with the public. Strong verbal and writtencommunication abilities. Strong computer skills with the ability tolearn and operate a variety of programs and websites used by theVillage. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products includingOutlook, Word, and Excel. OTHER EXPERIENCE ANDQUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS Associatedegree in civil engineering technology or related field and workingknowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D design required. Experience in theconstruction of streets, sewers, water utility installations, and otherwork pertinent to public works and municipal projects desired. Possess avalid driver's license.
