Research Engineer - Embedded Systems

Job Description Develop solutions for embedded systems and industrial control systems (ICS). Leverage design tools to develop, simulate, test, and optimize real-time embedded systems. Shape and pursue external opportunities with U.S. government agencies such as the DOE and DOD. Work with businesses to help transition real-time embedded controls and communication systems from early-stage lab demonstrations to fieldable prototypes. Collaborate with universities, industrial consortiums, commercial partners, and others to advance the state of the art in embedded systems. Publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open-source communities. Embedded C / C++ programming u2013 strong low-level coding ability with efficient, memory-safe, and real-time oriented design. Assembly language (ARM, RISC-V, x86, or other relevant architectures). RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems) u2013 experience with FreeRTOS, ThreadX, VxWorks, QNX, or Zephyr. Linux kernel & device drivers u2013 developing, configuring, and debugging Linux kernel modules, board support packages (BSPs), and peripheral drivers. Bare-metal programming u2013 direct hardware control without an OS (timers, interrupts, peripherals). Bootloaders & firmware update mechanisms (e.g., U-Boot, secure OTA). Microcontrollers & SoCs u2013 ARM Cortex-M/A, PIC, MSP430, ESP32, etc. Legal authorization to work in the US is required.
