General Information: The mission of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) is to deliver a world-class education to a diverse array of communities and individuals throughout their academic and professional careers; to improve employability and develop workforces; and to contribute to building a civic-minded, well-informed, and globally aware society. SCS offers a wide range of degree programs and applied learning experiences to a broad and inclusive community of students and professionals. Summer and Special Programs is an interdependent unit within SCS, overseeing both Summer High School Sessions, comprised of over 3,000 high school students, and Summer Sessions, comprised of over 1,200 undergraduate, graduate, and visiting domestic and international students. These positions will work with both Summer High School Sessions and Summer Sessions. Summer High School Sessions are a chance for motivated students to take courses that interest them, taught by renowned Georgetown professors, who will challenge them to think like college students. Over one, two, three, or five weeks in Washington D.C., they will gain friends from all over the world and a new sense of independence to help them get ahead. Summer Sessions offers over 250 courses in a diverse range of subjects. Students are able to explore new interests or get ahead in their studies while spending the summer living and learning in Washington, D.C., on Georgetownu2019s historic hilltop campus. Summer Sessions also includes our Summer Honors Institutes, international students who join us from partner institutions abroad. Terms & Compensation: u25cf The Summer and Special Programs (SSP) Intern Positions are designated for the summer 2024 term, with dates of employment negotiable at the time of offer, within the range of late May 2026 u2013 early August 2026. u25cf Work will comprise approximately 40 hours a week and will involve evening and weekend commitments, including Sundays. u25cf Employment with the University is at will and may be terminated by the SSP Interns or the University at any time without notice or cause. Employment with the University should not be considered as an implied or explicit guarantee of employment or as a personal contract. u25cf Failure to meet the standards and expectations of the University, the School of Continuing Studies, and Summer and Special Programs may result in termination. u25cf Compensation will include a private bedroom in an on-campus University apartment, a meal plan, $18.80 per hour for up to 40 hours of work per week, and membership to Yates Field House. u25cf The SSP Interns will have the opportunity to cater their internship experience to include personal interests and passion areas. There is flexibility with the below responsibilities to alter the experience to fit the needs and desires of the selected candidate. Responsibilities: u25cf Work with the Director of Student Affairs, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, Summer Hoya Residential Team, campus partners, and other members of the SCS Summer and Special Programs team. u25cf Serve as a liaison with the Office of Residential Living throughout the summer. This includes producing rooming assignments every week, maintaining floor rosters for the Summer Hoya Residential Team, and submitting housing changes. u25cf Assist in purchasing for Summer High School Sessions, including working with outside vendors and on-campus partners. u25cf Aid in the execution of events and activities for the Summer College Immersion Program ( (SCIP), a three-week college prep program for rising high school seniors from the Cristo Rey Network, the KIPP Foundation school systems, as well as other select schools, networks, and community-based organizations. This includes living in the residence hall with SCIP students for three weeks during the summer. u25cf Enforce Pre-College program policies and procedures for students, including assisting residential staff in addressing and adjudicating conduct violations and approving student leave requests. u25cf Assist with weekly Summer High School Sessions Sunday check-ins, ranging from 30-800 students each week. u25cf Manage Summer Hoya email account and respond to inquiries promptly. u25cf Support Summer Sessions by leading, coordinating, administering, and supporting programs and services. u25cf Serve as primary support and contact for Summer Honors Institutes. u25cf Function as an on-campus resource for all Summer Sessions students. u25cf Assist in planning, marketing, and execution for all summer student programs (both co-curricular and social), including Summer Honors specific programming, e.g., orientation, closing ceremony, outreach events, and exploring Washington, D.C. u25cf Assist in the overall implementation and creation of content to increase presence on social media. u25cf Assist in the overall administration of Summer Sessions, orientations, operations, and initiatives. u25cf Assist in the development of presentations and associated materials. u25cf Assist in monitoring programmatic budget and record keeping. u25cf Assist in the overall administration of SCS summer operations and programming initiatives. u25cf Assist with summer-related data collection and data processing. u25cf Work cooperatively with numerous partner offices across the University. u25cf Fulfill administrative and clerical responsibilities in a timely and thorough manner. u25cf Maintain privacy and confidentiality when handling participant and community issues. u25cf Attend events and meetings as assigned. u25cf Be accessible via cell phone and email address issued by Georgetown University for the duration of the internship. u25cf Assist in identifying, defining, and resolving issues. u25cf Other duties as assigned or requested.
