Job Description

JOB REQUIREMENTS: A Telephony Engineer plays an important role in thealignment and execution of strategic services related to engineering.The Telephony Engineer will maintain, administer, and optimize CDW'sVoIP infrastructure, collaboration platforms and services. Practicalknowledge of one or multiple Cisco voice platforms including CiscoUnified Communications Manager (CUCM), Cisco Unity, Cisco Contact Center(UCCX), Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE), Jabber, WebEx App and videoconference system is necessary as you collaborate with all peers andinternal business partners to ensure positive outcomes. Key Areas ofResponsibilities: Perform tasks relating to operations, installation,and/or maintenance for local, off-site and/or remote locations. Ensuresuninterrupted access to all CDW voice and video telecommunicationplatforms. Analyzes, evaluates, and maintains CDW's telecommunicationand video systems. Implement and test telecommunications softwaresolutions. Follows industry best practices for analysis, installation,and quality assurance of transmission mediums and infrastructurecomponents. Provides customer training of the telecommunicationsfeatures and functionality. Perform analysis, acquisition, andinstallation of remote hardware and software. Interfaces withinternal/external customers and vendors to determine system needs. Serveas technical expert on a functional basis for the resolution of complextelephony problems. Create the Business Continuity Plan for CDWTelephony platforms and lead business continuity planning reviews andtests for all CDW Telecommunication platforms. Ensure functionality ofall telecommunications monitoring for service failures, performanceproblems. Coordinate with the Telephony Team for level 1 and 2 supportof complex issues. Plan changes by coordinating with team and acquirenecessary approval from change advisory board. Responsible for theinstallation of operating systems and security patches. Responsible forassessing the applicability of vulnerabilities and maintain securitycompliance of telephony voice and video solutions. Work off hours andweekends as instructed by the business. Participate in a rotationalon-call schedule. Provide advice and guidance on operational issues andmentor lower-level engineers. Collaborate with business owners tocomplete project requirements. Coordinate with vendors to troubleshootand repair outages. Education and/or Experience Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in telecommunications or related field, or equivalentexperience required. Minimum of 3+ years' experience insoftware/hardware voice/video network design and analysis.
