Job Description

This is a Per Diem position is fully onsite and requires the ability to cover any shift. The primary post will be at our main campus (Longwood) but will need to have the flexibility to cover shifts at our regional campuses (South Shore Hospital, Merrimack Valley, and Londonderry, NH). It may also be eligible for Shift Differentials depending on the shift(s) worked. Under close supervision, provides emergency response to a variety of situations and incidents to support the department, patients, clinicians and/or faculty. Provides protection to people and property through patrol, investigation, monitoring alarms, and surveillance cameras. Provides a high level of customer service by interacting with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner that is proactive, friendly, and helpful. Uses various office software to produce reports. May be required to interface with senior management, cross-organizations, and internal and external customers. For all of these, the work will require the application of well-established techniques, procedures, or standards. Job Description Primary Duties and Responsibilities: u2022 Provides protection to people and property through patrol, investigation, monitoring alarms, and surveillance cameras. Patrols buildings and grounds and identifies unsafe conditions and improperly secured areas/property to help prevent theft, injuries, or damages. u2022 Provides a high level of customer service by interacting with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner that is proactive, friendly, and helpful. Creates safety awareness among the Institute community. u2022 Responds to emergencies, including medical incidents for adult and pediatric patients and active response. Assists with potentially violent patients and detains individuals suspected of criminal conduct. u2022 Conducts preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential misconduct. Gathers, analyzes, evaluates, and utilizes facts and evidence. Interviews victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects. Maintains accountability for valuables/property and other forms of evidence. u2022 Prepares and submits written reports and logs all incidents thoroughly and accurately. u2022 Conducts fire extinguisher inspections per assignment of SOD, responds to fire drills, and provides escorts for staff, visitors, and patients. u2022 May be assigned to special duties, off-site locations, and/or other shifts. Special duties include but are not limited to Bike Patrol and/or Community Service Officer. Off-site locations include but are not limited to administrative buildings, ambulatory care centers, and/or community-based clinics. Will be cross trained in other locations beyond normally assigned workspace. u2022 Performs additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: u2022 Excellent verbal and written communication skills. u2022 Proficient in the operation of office equipment including computers. u2022 Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. u2022 Exemplary customer service and communication skills. u2022 Strong risk analysis and organizational skills. u2022 Ability to control complex interpersonal situations and crisis management scenarios. u2022 Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence. u2022 Reliable and flexible. Minimum Job Qualifications: High school diploma, bachelor's degree preferred. 1 year of relevant security experience; multi-language skills a plus. License/Certification/Registration Required: u2022 Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driveru2019s license. u2022 Must submit to and pass an initial and annual criminal background check. u2022 Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department): o CPR/AED/First Aid o Narcan (Naloxone) Training o AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training Supervisory Responsibilities: None Patient Contact: Yes, indirect contact for non-care providing purposes. Pay Transparency Statement The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidateu2019s relevant experience, skills and qualifications. For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). $46,300.00 - $51,400.00
