Our work depends on a Network Engineer Senior joining our team to evolve and maintain network infrastructure for the Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration. HOW A SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT u2022 Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations. Designs, builds, and implements network systems. u2022 Directs compilation of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance. Troubleshoots network performance issues. Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions. u2022 Monitors and responds to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems. Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. u2022 Performs a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software, budgetary, and support facilities and/or equipment. u2022 Provides assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations. u2022 Monitors and responds to hardware, software, and network problems. u2022 Provides the routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals). u2022 Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance. u2022 Plans and executes network upgrades and expansion to ensure optimal performance and capacity. u2022 Monitors network performance and troubleshoots and resolves highly complex problems to maintain operating efficiency and ensure quality transmission service on the network. u2022 Collaborates with cross functional teams to ensure successful project delivery. u2022 May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced staff. u2022 May serve as a team lead. u2022 May participate in the development of organizational IT policies and procedures. WHAT YOUu2019LL NEED TO SUCCEED: u2022 Education: Bacheloru2019s Degree (Substitutions will be based on additional years of experience) u2022 Required Experience: 10+ years of related experience u2022 Required Technical Skills: Demonstrated ability with Network Administration, Network Management, Network Engineering, Network Design, Network Security, Network Security, Problem Solving/Troubleshooting u2022 Required Skills and Abilities: Proficient Written and Oral Communication; Organization, Problem Solving, Communication, Technical Documentation, and Teamwork. u2022 Security Clearance Level: + U.S. Citizenship Required + Random Drug Screen Required + Possess Q or TS level clearance (or their equivalency) with the ability to obtain a Q level clearance + Must be eligible to obtain and maintain such clearance as a condition of employment u2022 Location: On-site in Lakewood, CO This position could involve up to 25% travel to customer sites throughout the US. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
