Description As a member of the Payments Engineering organization, youu2019ll design and build distributed systems that support secure, high-volume payment and gifting experiences worldwide. Our platforms process transactions at global scale, ensuring reliability, privacy, and delight in every interaction.Youu2019ll be part of a team that owns the full product lifecycleu2014from architecture and implementation to deployment, observability, and on-call operations. In this role, youu2019ll collaborate across Appleu2019s engineering, design, and product teams to deliver exceptional software that seamlessly integrates into Appleu2019s ecosystem. Minimum Qualifications + 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience, with demonstrated proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or similar object oriented programming languages + Proven ability to design, build, and operate distributed systems at scale in production environments + Proficiency with relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases + Clear, thoughtful communication across code reviews, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration + Bacheloru2019s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience Preferred Qualifications + Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline + Strong understanding of security, privacy, and cryptographic principles (e.g., encryption, tokenization, key management) + Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based infrastructure + Hands-on experience using observability and monitoring platforms + Experience using generative AI tools to enhance software engineering productivity and workflows Apple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
