Description: What We're Doing Become a part of something IMPACT-ful Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nationu2019s defense against ballistic missile attacks. The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat. The Work u2022 Mechanical design of parts, assemblies, subsystems, and complete systems, including 3D CAD modeling, drafting/review/revision/release of engineering drawings, selection of components and materials u2022 Participate and/or lead small, cross-functional teams performing various design and production-support tasks in an Agile Hardware environment u2022 Collaborating with other functional areas such as Production, Procurement, Systems Engineering, Quality, and Logistics on aspects of product design, integration, and support u2022 Create, release, and maintain bill-of-materials, analysis reports, etc. u2022 Performing mechanical engineering analyses, such as weight/center of mass, structural, transportability, or thermal, and authoring reports documenting them u2022 Perform with little to no oversight needed to complete assignments Handle complex technical issues and resolve them in new and innovative ways u2022 Assisting in the preparation and submittal of contract deliverable reports and data packages u2022 Mentoring and informally training junior engineers and engineering interns Who We Are Lockheed Martin is a global aerospace, defense, and security company dedicated to advancing scientific discovery and harnessing innovation to make the world a safer place. Learn more about Lockheed Martin's comprehensive benefits package here ( #rmshotmiljobs Basic Qualifications: u2022 BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and minimum 2 Years of Experience u2022 U.S. Citizenship is required. u2022 Current active US DoD Secret Security clearance is required. u2022 Must be able to support an in-office / closed-area work environment full time. u2022 Ability to travel at least 10% u2022 Recent design experience using a 3D CAD Package such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX u2022 Experience drafting & reviewing 2D mechanical drawings per ASME standards. u2022 Prior experience with engineering PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP system such as SAP. u2022 Experience in evaluating vendor documents to ensure specifications and datasheet meets requirements. u2022 Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-1366, MIL-STD-1472, ASME Y14.5, ASME Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000, MIL-STD-461 Desired Skills: u2022Experience in one or more of the following system engineering knowledge areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, cost and risk analysis, interface definition, system design, system integration, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total systems. u2022 Understanding and application of industry engineering technical standards; demonstrated experience in structural design and impact assessments. u2022 Mentoring and cross-training junior engineers in analysis work, reviews, and approving their analysis results to meet customer requirements. u2022 Experience using analytical software tools, to analyze and reduce data to identify key characteristics and trends. u2022 Experience with mission critical and safety critical systems, components, etc. u2022 Experience with Agile or Kanban workflow, including tools such as Jira u2022 Familiarity with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Core Standards: MDA-QS-001-MAP, MDA-QS-003-PMAP, MDA Instruction 5000.20-INS (ETR Process) u2022 Familiarity with the GMD domain and GMD Launch Support Systems hardware u2022 Hands-on mentality and a passion for fast-paced environments. u2022 Experience with Finite Element Analysis and Modeling theory and application using industry standard structural analysis software (ANSYS, GTStrudl, ABAQUS, STAAD, Femap, NX Simcenter, NASTRAN, Creo Simulation or SolidWorks Simulation) u2022 DOORS and/or CAMEO exposure u2022 Experience with full product development workflow, initial design, analysis, revision, release, production. u2022 Experience with metrics driven process improvement. u2022 Prior experience with the design, test, and/or integration and deployment of mechanical and structural components, systems, or subsystems u2022 Strong self-starter with excellent interpersonal, written, and presentation skills, capable of communicating complex concepts clearly and concisely. Demonstrates the ability to produce high-quality work independently, multitask effectively, exercise sound judgment, and thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment while adapting to changing directions. Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
