Description We are looking for a skilled Health Information Technician to join our team in SeaTac, Washington. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a vital role in managing medical records and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach. Responsibilities: u2022 Process and review incoming requests for medical records and health information from various authorized parties, including patients, providers, and legal representatives. u2022 Verify proper authorization for record releases and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and organizational policies. u2022 Retrieve, prepare, and deliver medical records through electronic systems, fax, mail, or secure portals. u2022 Provide timely responses to inquiries regarding medical record requests, statuses, and related documentation. u2022 Maintain detailed logs of all requests, releases, and relevant documentation to ensure accuracy and accountability. u2022 Uphold patient confidentiality and safeguard the integrity of health records in all processes. u2022 Collaborate with healthcare providers, clinical teams, and other departments to collect necessary information. u2022 Perform general administrative duties such as scanning, indexing, and filing medical records to support departmental operations. Requirements u2022 High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in health information management or medical office administration is a plus. u2022 Previous experience in medical records management or a healthcare office environment is preferred. u2022 Familiarity with federal and state regulations related to health information release is strongly desired. u2022 Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy. u2022 Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, scanning tools, and Microsoft Office applications. u2022 Strong communication skills with a focus on delivering excellent customer service. u2022 Knowledge of medical record systems such as Allscripts or Cerner is advantageous. u2022 Experience handling inbound telephone inquiries and document scanning is beneficial.
