Job Description The Harborivew Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Assistant . WORK SCHEDULE u2022 Full-Time / 40 hours per week u2022 Day/Evening Shift - Tuesday - Friday, 11:00 am - 9:30 pm u2022 This position is fully on-site POSITION HIGHLIGHTS u2022 Perform general clerical duties such as answering and screening telephone calls; processing mail and assembling and sending information to patients; monitoring supply inventory and ordering and stocking supplies; and maintain record of services ordered u2022 Escort patients to various treatment areas ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provide pre-operative preparation for in-patients and post-operative care for both in-patients and morning admissions. The ASU and PACU areas also can be utilized for conscious sedation and recovery for special procedures or anesthesia-assisted procedures such as electroconvulsive treatment and exams under anesthesia. ASU and PACU care for pediatric and adult populations. Services include General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Ear/Nose/Throat, Urology, Oral Maxillofacial, Burns, Ophthalmology, Gynecology, and Pain Service-related procedures. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: u2022 Float between the ASU and PACU patient care area and the two Waiting Areas as needed for patient and family check-in as well as providing clerical duties as directed by the Charge RN or Management. u2022 Respond to patient questions and provide directions to specified areas such clinics, units, ancillary departments, support services, parking, and eating facilities u2022 Assist patients in accessing hospital and community services by consulting and making referrals to appropriate resources u2022 Ensure positive and professional first impression of the clinic while communicating pleasantly and in a manner that optimizes patient privacy u2022 Schedule new, return, ancillary, and procedure appointments consistent with patient needs and scheduling guidelines u2022 Obtain authorization and complete required documentation u2022 Coordinate obtaining interpreters for patients u2022 Arrange for patient transportation to outside facilities and coordinate patient transportation within facility REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical experience OR equivalent education/experience.
