Organization: Ob-Gyn Job Summary: In your pivotal role of Recovery Coach, with guidance from the Lead Peer Recovery Specialist, you will provide peer recovery support services to patients with substance use disorder (SUD) and will assist patients in achieving and sustaining recovery as defined by each individual patient. Your internship role will use a developmental learning approach to provide knowledge and skills for providing recovery support services. Initially, you will have limited responsibilities and close supervision, mentoring and intensive instruction. As you progress, you will gain autonomy while still receiving supervision. You will develop skills in facilitating patient access to recovery-oriented substance use disorder treatment, resources, and community recovery groups. You will maintain ongoing patient support regardless of relapse and will serve as a motivator, ally, role model, sounding board, and advocate for patients with substance use disorders. You also will gain experience providing one -on-one peer support, leading support groups and providing recovery education. REQUIRED: u2022 HSD/GED u2022 Demonstrates ability to maintain 2 years of sustained and uninterrupted recovery at time of hire required; u2022 Completion of Tennessee CPRS Training Part One u2022 Reliable transportation to travel to satellite locations u2022 Experience with Microsoft Office; experience in Epic is a plus You will work 16 hours weekly; this will occur within traditional, daytime business hours, Monday-Friday and you will work at the VUMC Center for Women's Health located at One Hundred Oaks. . DEPARTMENT SUMMARY : Firefly at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is an outpatient treatment program for pregnant and postpartum women with substance use disorder. Firefly provides wrap-around clinical and behavioral health care as well as social support services, seeking to eliminate barriers to care so that women can enter and sustain long-term recovery. Firefly providers and staff utilize a trauma-informed approach to care that combats stigma and strives to support each patient with their individual recovery goals. The multidisciplinary clinic is based in the Center for Womenu2019s Health at Vanderbilt Health One Hundred Oaks, and has satellite locations throughout Middle Tennessee. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES u2022 Serves as a liaison between the recovery community, the addiction treatment system, the medical treatment system, and the patientu2019s community, family, and social context to facilitate connections across systems of care. u2022 Meets with patients in clinical and community settings to understand their needs and personal goals, support the exploration of potential positive and negative consequences associated with personal goals, and work collaboratively with the patient to remove obstacles that might interfere with goal attainment. u2022 Educates patients about addiction safe use practices, multiple pathways of recovery, and utilizes motivational enhancement techniques u2022 Conducts active outreach efforts to encourage attendance and participation in recovery-oriented, self-help, and pro-social groups. u2022 Works collaboratively with treatment team in support of evidence-based services to patients. u2022 Assists with access to treatment for patients, understanding and using systems and procedures to rapidly support identified needs of the patient and assists with data collection for quality assurance and program evaluation. TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES u2022 Clinical Counseling (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate clinical counseling in practical applications of moderate difficulty. u2022 Patient Assessment (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient assessments in practical applications of moderate difficulty. u2022 Peer Leadership (Novice): The ability to show leadership and influence people of equal rank in an effort to accomplish team goals.
