Summary Miami VA Healthcare System's Surgery Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician (Otolaryngology Surgeon) with expertise in Head and Neck. Ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards, as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. You must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center. Responsibilities This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT. Eligible applicants will be referred until all vacancies are filled. Major duties include but are not limited to the following: Perform history and physical examinations, diagnose, prepare treatment plans and manage patients with complex illnesses of the otorhinolaryngology system Admit to inpatient care, including consultation, and management of inpatients Performance of general otolaryngology procedures including but not limited to tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, uvulopalatopharyngoplasty, nasal and laryngeal endoscopy, otologic microscopy, and microlaryngoscopy Performance of nasal and sinus procedures including but not limited to septal and turbinate surgery, endoscopic nasal and sinus surgery, endoscopic image guided sinus surgery, excision of intranasal masses, excision of intranasal sinus polyps, and the Caldwell Luc procedure Performance of oral cavity surgery, including but not limited to sialolithotomy, anterior 1/3 tongue surgery, posterior 1/3 tongue surgery, palatal surgery, nasopharyngeal surgery, oropharyngeal surgery Performance of neck surgery, including but not limited to laryngeal procedures (excluding total laryngectomy), thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, congenital neck masses, parotidectomy with and without facial nerve preservation, submandibular gland excision VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME).Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement).Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification). Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided. Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm(Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor.
