The Unit manages litigation from inception through hearings and appeals, including fully contested claims, challenges to specific disability and medical benefits, penalty allegations, petitions to review, and cases with subrogation issues. The Unit provides formal training and day-to-day advice to the state Risk Managementu2019s Workersu2019 Compensation Division, state agencies, and the Stateu2019s third party-claims administrator, regarding workersu2019 compensation law, liability exposure, and settlements. The DOL is currently offering a sign-on bonus for new paralegal hires of $1,000.
