Lease Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for a knowledgeable Lease Accounting Specialist to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in lease accounting and ASC 842 regulations to support clients in navigating complex financial scenarios. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance, troubleshooting issues, and improving accounting processes. Responsibilities: u2022 Serve as the primary advisor for clients requiring guidance on ASC 842 lease classification, calculations, amortization schedules, and remeasurements. u2022 Analyze and validate lease data to assist with intricate setups and accounting challenges within specialized software. u2022 Resolve discrepancies in accounting calculations and ensure compliance with industry standards. u2022 Provide expert consultation on general ledger mapping, journal entry outputs, and system integration strategies. u2022 Facilitate client training sessions, discussions, and demonstrations on lease accounting functionalities and reporting tools. u2022 Monitor updates to ASC 842 regulations and interpret emerging changes to advise clients effectively. u2022 Collaborate with product and development teams to translate accounting requirements into software features. u2022 Review new software releases to confirm adherence to accounting standards and perform user acceptance testing. u2022 Develop internal documentation, training materials, and knowledge base content related to lease accounting. u2022 Offer guidance to cross-functional teams on accounting best practices and system capabilities. Requirements u2022 Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on lease accounting. u2022 Proficiency in ASC 842 standards and lease accounting principles. u2022 Strong skills in general ledger management, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliations. u2022 Ability to analyze complex financial data and troubleshoot accounting discrepancies. u2022 Experience with client consultation and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly. u2022 Familiarity with accounting software and system integrations. u2022 Knowledge of regulatory updates and financial compliance standards. u2022 Excellent organizational and documentation skills to support training and process improvements.
