Whether it’s designing roads, bridges, or multimodal systems, we ensure our designs are sustainable, cost-effective, and forward-thinking.What You’ll Be DoingAs a valuable part of ourTransportation Business Line, aProject Manager 1 will manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and guide projects from concept through construction with responsibilities such as:Manage roadway design projects for municipal and MassDOT clients, including reconstruction, resurfacing, safety improvements, and intersection redesignServe as the primary point of contact for clients, including municipal agencies and MassDOT, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring exceptional serviceLead the development of construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and project reports for roadway geometry, grading, drainage, and traffic featuresSupervise internal design teams and coordinate with subconsultants and specialists across disciplines (e.g., traffic, drainage, environment)Oversee permitting processes and ensure project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including MassDOT design standardsDevelop project scopes, budgets, and schedules; monitor progress and ensure timely, cost-effective deliveryProvide technical oversight during construction, including shop drawing reviews, site visits, and contractor coordinationMentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment that promotes technical growth and excellenceLead proposal preparation and interviews for municipal and state roadway opportunitiesWhat You’ll NeedBachelor’s degree in Civil EngineeringProfessional Engineer (PE) license in MassachusettsMinimum of 10 years of progressive experience in roadway design, with at least 3 years managing projectsStrong understanding of MassDOT design standards, manuals, and specificationsProficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/OpenRoads DesignerExperience managing multidisciplinary design teams and project schedulesStrong communication skills and ability to lead client meetings and public presentationsDemonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneouslyPreferred RequirementsExperience with MassDOT funding programs such as LOTCIP, STP, and Local RoadsFamiliarity with Complete Streets design principles and ADA complianceKnowledge of local permitting processes and utility coordination in MassachusettsInvolvement in professional organizations such as ASCE or ITEExperience with public engagement and community outreach on transportation projectsYour Financial and Wellness BenefitsCompensation is based on skills and experience as reflected in the pay range belowAnnual Bonus, Profit Sharing, and Employee Stock Ownership PlanBest in Class Medical InsuranceDental & Vision InsuranceWellness Rewards and ReimbursementsTuition Reimbursement and Qualified Student Loan Paydown ContributionsReimbursements for Licensure/ Certification Preparation and FeesSummer Fridays Flextime and Hybrid Work EnvironmentPet Insurance and Adoption AssistanceWays to Grow Your CareerWe provide a structured career path with opportunities for professional development through tuition reimbursement, internal training, conference attendance, and professional memberships.
