SummaryThe Associate Engineer is responsible for developing detailed processes to produce injection molded and painted components and assemblies. The incumbent also develops, coordinates, and participates in new process and continuous improvement projects.Essential Functions (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)Specifies, designs, and builds special process tools and fixturesEstimates production process cycle times and performs costs analysisEnsures that production processes are capable of producing parts based on engineering specificationsModifies production processes and updates all relevant Process Sign-Off (PSO) and other production related documentsParticipates in presentations to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to ensure understanding of production processesComplies with TS 16949 Standards and expectations to ensure on-going process qualityCollaborates with all levels of Team Members and managers to ensure accurate and timely resultsAssists the Manager in identifying process training needs and works to develop and to maintain individual skills proficiencyParticipates on new model development and design teams, and provides technical support for Headquarters EngineeringAttends and conducts safety meetingsComplies with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and reports non-complianceComplies with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulationsFollows safety rules and procedures, wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and complies with 3R and 5S requirementsPrompt, regular, predictable attendancePhysical presence at work during all scheduled work hoursOvertime and weekend work as requiredAll other job duties as assignedBasic Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Ability to communicate with HQ about new model launching issues (Different time zone)Ability to manage projects and to achieve established deadlinesAbility to troubleshoot process issues and to identity visible business solutionsProficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and ExcelPreferred Education & Experience:Experience in automotive or industrial manufacturingExperience working with tools for taking samples (welding, anchor bolts, fork lifts, etc.)Experience with 2D or 3D Computer Aided Drawing (CAD) programs (AutoCAD, Mold flow, Catia V5)Knowledge of injection molding and automation paintingExperience in automation system with any 6 Axis Robot or any PLC ProgramBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial EngineeringWorking Conditions50% in office, 50% on production floorExtensive walking on the production floorOperating hand toolsSome travel to customers and vendors
