FTE: 0.900000 Standard Hours: 36.00 Shift: Shift 3 Shift Details:Holidays: rotating Weekends: every third weekend Froedtert Birth Centeris a Level IV (High Risk) Labor and Delivery unit. We are looking forindividuals who have excellent communication and interpersonal skillswho are dedicated and have the ability to work under intense pressureand stress. The Labor and Delivery nurse assists the physician with allaspects of pregnancy and birth, assists and circulates during caesariansections, and cares for women who experience complications with theirpregnancies. A successful Labor and Delivery nurse is meticulous withstrong attention to detail. Labor and Delivery Nurse Responsibilities:Caring, compassionate and knowledgeable on all aspects of pregnancy,labor and birth. Monitoring and intervening to manage fetal heartbeat,contractions and progress during labor. Administering high riskmedications for labor and pregnancy complications. Coaching duringlabor, assisting with complications, guiding the mother through laborand delivery. Caring for high-risk antepartum, labor, high-risk labor,triage, operating room, PACU, high-risk postpartum mothers and motherswith fetal demise. Care and management of high-risk pregnant patientslocated off unit, example: ICU, main operating room, EmergencyDepartment, med/surg unit, etc. Neonatal resuscitation at delivery andfrequent neonatal assessments following delivery. Flexibility inscheduling and ability to work above FTE with 'on call' hours JobSummary: The Registered Nurse is a practitioner who is responsible forassessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for anidentified group of patients in an inpatient environment. Thisindividual demonstrates competency in delivery of care to a primarilyadult population. The Staff RN-Inpatient job description hasincorporated essential functions which are adapted from the ANA Nursing:Scope and Standards of Practice. Other duties as assigned. EXPERIENCEDESCRIPTION: Clinical competence and experience in the care andmanagement of target patient populations specific to area of employment.EDUCATION DESCRIPTION: Professional knowledge of nursing theory andpractice at a level normally acquired through completion of education atan accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure asa Registered Nurse is required. Upon hire any non-BSN nurse with lessthan one year of licensed registered nurse experience will be requiredto enroll in a BSN (or higher nursing degree) program. Acceptance into aprogram is expected within 15 months of hire and the degree program mustbe completed within 5 years of enrollment, or 6 years if program is MSN,DNP or PhD in Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Requires current state of Wisconsin RegisteredNurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participatingstate in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association(AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHAapproved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire. American Academyof Pediatric (AAP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) is requiredwithin one year of hire. Electronic Fetal Monitoring certificationthrough the National Certification Corporation (NCC) is required within18 months from date of hire.
