Engineer Interns will assist Engineers and Technicians in project work and perform tasks which allow EWI to operate more efficiently as a whole. During the program interns will transition from a technical labor-based position to that of a functioning engineer, gaining exposure to different industries and technologies along the ternship opportunities vary with business needs. During the summer term, interns are expected to work 40 hours per week. If the opportunity is available, interns may be able to work in the fall and spring semesters for a defined number of hours per week in coordination with the student's curriculum.There are seven (7) total internship positions available focusing on the following technologies:Resistance & Solid-State Welding (RSSW)Corrosion & Environmental Testing (CET)Polymers (Ultrasonics)Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE)Arc Welding & DED ProcessesFriction Stir Welding (FSW)Structural IntegrityMinimum RequirementsKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to effectively present to a groupProven adaptability and flexibility as a part of teamProven success in a team-oriented environmentExcellent written and verbal communication abilitiesSolutions-oriented mindsetDesire to work in hands-on lab environment and research environmentSeeking to learn from leading minds in innovationDemonstrated initiative to exceed customer expectationsProficient in MS OfficePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Laboratory/light production floor with ventilation, climate-control system, moderate lighting, and moderate noise level;Use finger dexterity to type, adjust, move, handle, perform, operate, install, attach, remove, apply, grasp, manipulate, and measure;Frequently move, transport, rotate, reach, pull, twist, adjust position, push, stoop, bend, and crouch; andLift ten to 40 pounds on a frequent basis and 40 to 80 pounds occasionallyENGINEERING CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS:Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in engineering at an accredited universityEngineering disciplines preferred:WeldingMaterials ScienceMechanicalPolymersChemicalCorrosionElectricalIndustrialOther relevant areas of studyEXPORT CONTROLS - This position requires access to information and technology that is subject to U.S. export controls.
