Boston University's National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratoriesis seeking a critical-thinking, diligent, driven technology professionalto join our innovative and inclusive community. NEIDL IT supports thecomputing needs of the institutes unique research and operations, inclose collaboration with institute faculty, staff, and students. The ITSystems Specialist primarily provides direct client support for requestsand issues and configures systems for research and operations. Thistypically involves recommending technical solutions; educating clientson available tools; and installing, maintaining, and troubleshootingWindows and Mac computers and software. There will be opportunities tocontribute to special technology projects supporting the NEIDLs uniquework. The ideal candidate has client-facing IT experience, offersexcellent customer service with a service-oriented approach, and enjoysmaking a difference while collaborating with colleagues in diverseroles. Requirements: Deep familiarity with Windows and MacOS operatingsystem use and management. Comfortable with installing, configuring, andupgrading Windows and Mac systems. Proven track record introubleshooting hardware, software, OS, and network issues whileemploying thoughtful strategy and communication. Familiarity withMicrosoft Office and common desktop software, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, andActive Directory. Experience with tools leveraged in enterpriseenvironments for delivering support and system management - such as forremote assistance, asset management, deployment and mobile devicemanagement, patching, virus protection, and encryption (e.g.,BeyondTrust Bomgar, Quest KACE, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit).Familiarity with wired/wireless networking principles, such as TCP/IPand application protocols, and how they play a role in normal computeruse.
