Yes County Albany Street Address NYS Division of the Budget State Capitol City Albany State NY Zip Code 12224 Duties Description Advance your career in government finance, management, and public policy at the New York State Division of the Budget (DOB) DOB develops, negotiates, and implements one of the largest government budgets in the country, which provides the fiscal roadmap for State programs, policies, and services.We are seeking motivated analysts and critical thinkers to join our team. DOB analysts rely on their skills for creative problem solving, attention to detail, and comprehensive communication to respond to emerging challenges, identify and develop solutions, and ensure the fiscal health of the State.The Budget Planning and Legislation Unit (BSU) serves as the central liaison for DOB and the Governoru2019s Counselu2019s Office. The unit works as a clearinghouse for information related to legislation and legislative activities for DOB. BSU is the central control point for Article VII Budget bills and memo formulation. It coordinates the identification and analysis of significant bills, manages the assignment and analysis of bills that have passed the Legislature, and administers the departmental bill process. Budget and Policy Analysts at DOB are typically involved in:u2022Working with staff at all levels throughout DOB, State Agencies and Authorities, the Governoru2019s Office, and the Legislature on a wide range of critical DOB processes.u2022Drafting recommendations and materials to guide decision-making, including articulating nuanced issues, illustrating trends and projections, and synthesizing data.u2022Planning and scheduling for development of the Executive Budget through its enactment, including producing the Executive Budget appropriation bills and publications.u2022Providing advice and assistance to staff on specific procedural and technical questions relating to the drafting bills and memos.u2022Coordinating the budget planning process as well as developing and implementing solutions to improve it.u2022Analyzing diverse legislation in response to DOB and Governor's staff requests as well as designing and developing reports to meet real time needs of management. Candidates for this position should demonstrate the following: u2022Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.u2022Fluency in Excel formulas and functions, and other Microsoft applications.u2022Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.u2022Flexible and able to work overtime, as necessary, particularly during critical budget periods and legislative sessions. The ideal candidate will have analytic ability and a willingness to learn. Key skills for this role include objectivity, flexibility, and adaptability. All positions are located in Albany, NY, and weekly onsite work is required coupled with some remote work flexibility. Mandatory overtime may be required.
