JOB REQUIREMENTS: Clinical Assistant Professor Faculty (Two Positions)Posting Number: 201104629 Employment Status: Full Time Job Family:Faculty Position Overview The Department of Counselor Education andCounseling Psychology (CECP ) at Marquette University is seekingcandidates for two Clinical Assistant Professor Faculty positions forour online Clinical Mental Health Counseling program beginning August2026. Candidates must be able to teach online graduate-level counselingcourses with a focus on clinical mental health counseling, and facultyare eligible to work remotely if residing in Wisconsin, Illinois, orWashington, D.C. Situated in the College of Education, CECP consists of12 faculty members and offers master's degrees on-campus in ClinicalMental Health and School Counseling that are CACREP -accredited (seeBeginning in theFall of 2021, the department began offering a new online program inClinical Mental Health Counseling (seeMarquette Universityis a Catholic, Jesuit University with 8,100 undergraduate and 3,500graduate and professional students across a wide range of undergraduateand graduate programs. Duties and Responsibilities Instructors areexpected to: Teach courses in an online format (i.e., asynchronous andsynchronous instruction)focused on clinical mental health counselingmethods, theories, career counseling, research methods, and other corecourses important to counseling practice Applicants who have the abilityto teach additional specialty courses such as trauma, ADOA or child andadolescent counseling will be preferred Online teaching includesengaging students during the week, answering emails in a timely manner,guiding live synchronous discussion and group work, and guidingasynchronous discussions Develop and prepare teaching materials (abilityto organize, analyze, and present knowledge or materials) to respond tostudent needs Manage content on D2L Brightspace course website Respondpromptly to student questions or concerns Compile, administer, and gradewritten assignments, projects and examinations through D2L BrightspaceMaintain records of student performance on D2L Brightspace Remaincurrent with new trends and development in field of clinical mentalhealth counseling and related ethics and legal issues The teaching loadper semester would minimally be three to four courses per semester.Under the direction of the department Chair the individual will performsome or all of the following duties: Teach online graduate courses inclinical mental health counseling, using both an asynchronous andsynchronous instructional formats Facilitate and teach an approvedcourse of study with measurable objectives and student outcomes for thecourse taught Instruct, manage, and supervise individuals and groupsonline and through D2L Brightspace using accepted, appropriateinstructional methods Evaluate student learning using appropriateassessment methods and Department of Counselor Education and CounselingPsychology program evaluation system In collaboration with theDepartment of Digital Learning and CECP , update course content based onstudent feedback, instructional effectiveness, and emerging bestpractices Maintain and subm t accurate and current records on D2LBrightspace concerning student accountability, attendance, andperformance Effectively and accurately participate in the CounselorEducation and Counseling Psychology assessment and accreditation (i.e.,CACREP ) process, including gathering and reviewing required materialsCommunicate concerns about student behavior to Director of CounselorEducation or Department Chair Maintain a student-oriented approach toonline education Maintain currency and improve professionally in thecontent and pedagogy of courses taught Develop positive relationshipswith colleagues and support collegiality Uphold professional and ethicalstandards and adhere to University policies and procedures Perform otherduties as assigned OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Graduation from an accreditedinstitution with a doctoral degree in counselor education, professionalpsychology or a related educational field or have completed mostdoctoral program requirements and the doctoral dissertation will becompleted within a year of beginning employment; have experience inclinical mental health counseling Knowledge of content and skills forclinical mental health counseling methods The ability to teach coreknowledge and skills for clinical mental health counseling Excellentcommunication skills and ability to relate well with students andcolleagues Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Graduation from anaccredited institution with a doctoral degree in counselor education,professional psychology or a related educational field; have extensiveexperience in clinical mental health counseling Successfulcollege/university level online teaching experience Extensive andthorough knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes to betaught Ability to facilitate live, virtual classes.
