FTE: 1.000000 Shift: Flexible 1st shiftbetween 7am to 6 pm Job Summary: The Transplant Financial Coordinator(TFC) is a pivotal position in the Blood and Marrow Transplant program.The role of the TFC is to assure the financial viability of alltransplant and cellular therapy referrals throughout the continuum ofcare. The TFC's primary responsibilities are to ensure that patientsbeing considered for blood or marrow transplantation or cellular therapyhave adequate insurance benefits and/or resources identified to ensurethe best financial outcomes for both patients and the institution. Thisincludes the verification of benefits for all transplant/cellulartherapy related services, working with patients to understand theirinsurance coverage (including inpatient, outpatient, prescription,housing, travel, etc), helping find insurance coverage for patients, andworking with team on disability, financial assistance, etc. The TFC isthe primary up-front contact for insurance companies and medicalreviewers. Determines what patient-specific and trea tment-specificinformation is required by insurance companies and medical reviewers inorder to obtain prior authorization for transplant and cellular therapy& related services. EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: One year of healthcareexperience is required. Experience in managed care, Medicare, Medicaid,or other health insurance environment is preferred. Experience withmedical terminology is preferred. Previous experience working withinsurance companies is strongly preferred. EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Business, or Nursing ORother Bachelor's degree with relevant experience is required. SPECIALSKILLS DESCRIPTION: Ability to work independently and take programmaticinitiative. Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to functionin a confidential and highly responsible manner required. Excellentcomputer skills required. Excellent verbal and written communicationskills required. Demonstrated creativity and innovation in daily work.Ability to excel in a fast pace and high volume work environment. Strongorganizational and time management skills.
