Summary: WhatsApp is seeking a highly motivated and versatile team player to serve as Associate General Counsel, Product, for WhatsApp. The role requires experience in applying complex, evolving legal frameworks to new and innovative products and services and influencing compliance and regulatory strategy with other legal teams across Meta. This role will focus on supporting WhatsApp consumer initiatives across a number of products and services.The ideal candidate will have the skills to work proactively and independently with various teams across the organization, including Product, Engineering, Policy, Communications and Marketing, and have experience advising on product risks in a fast-paced business environment with a rapidly-evolving legal and regulatory landscape. Required Skills: Associate General Counsel, Product (WhatsApp) Responsibilities: 1. Drive and support high-profile and high-impact projects involving legal analysis and compliance with cross-functional stakeholders across WhatsAppu2019s business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other cross-functional teams, covering many subject areas, including consumer and data protection laws and regulations 2. Oversee outside counsel relationships 3. Lead across and coordinate with public policy and communications colleagues on external communication, policy development, and enforcement decisions 4. Help to set, implement and improve the strategy and vision for advising and partnering with business teams 5. Directly manage client relationships with the business Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: 6. J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) 7. Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location) 8. 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience 9. Demonstrated knowledge of global privacy laws, regulations, privacy programs and industry guidelines 10. Diligent, proactive, collaborative partner and who has demonstrated sound legal and business judgment and strategic thinking 11. Experience working on multiple projects in a deadline-focussed environment, delivering practical advice under pressure 12. Experience communicating legal advice to clients at varying levels 13. Experience taking on projects involving different subject matters, and working with cross-functional organizations to drive alignment 14. Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills 15. Effective communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: 16.
