To complete the supplemental questions please go to CAPPS Recruit to register or login and access your profile:CAPPS RecruitGeneral Description:The Suicide Prevention Manager will serve as a vital team member of the Veterans Mental Health Department (VMHD) responsible for actively participating in TVCu2019s efforts to reduce suicide among Texas veterans and service members. This includes providing training to veteran-serving organizations and community stakeholders on suicide prevention efforts and related mental health constructs (e.g., evidence-based practices, screening/assessment, risk factors, protective factors, gatekeeping, prevention, crisis intervention, postvention, lethal means restriction, etc.). This also includes working closely with stakeholders including governmental agencies, local coalitions, and community partners on cross-agency efforts, projects, and initiatives aimed at reducing suicide./To promote a strong environment, TVC maintains a telework policy. Telework is decided by the division and contingent on performance. Telework is not a contract of employment and if granted may be terminated at any time and for any reason without notice./Essential Duties and Responsibilities:u2022 Plans, develops, reviews, revises, and implements trainings related to suicide reduction efforts (e.g., evidence-based practices, screening/assessment, risk factors, protective factors, gatekeeping, prevention, crisis intervention, postvention, gatekeeping, lethal means, etc.).u2022 Conducts training in-person, through distance learning, or e-learning environment; facilitates workshops and meetings.u2022 Actively participates and/or leads state and local efforts to reduce suicide among Texas veteran and service members.u2022 Develops research-informed and culturally competent strategies to improve suicide prevention efforts across Texas in rural and metropolitan areas.u2022 Identifies and engages community stakeholders which serve veterans on collaborative efforts to reduce veteran and service member suicide.u2022 Represent the Texas Veterans Commission and the Veteran Mental Health Department at conferences, business meeting, and panel discussions.u2022 Develops partnerships with a variety of individuals, groups, and stakeholders.u2022 Composes, reviews, and edits training materials and reports.u2022 Performs related work or special projects as assigned.Military Crosswalk information: Minimum Education:Masteru2019s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or other field relevant to mental health.College Transcripts are required and must be provided before an interview can be extended, it is preferred they be attached to the application.Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of experience in providing mental health services.Additional Requirements: u00b7 A valid Texas Driveru2019s License must be provided within 90 days of hire.u00b7 License or ability to obtain a Texas license to practice as a mental health professional, such as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Psychologist within one year from the date of hire. Preferred Experience and Qualification:u00b7 Experience working withthose experiencing mental health concerns, especially suicidality.u00b7 Experience providing training and/or education on mental health topics.u00b7 Experience working with collaborative suicide prevention efforts.u00b7 Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health issues.u00b7 Experience working with veterans, service members, and veteran families.u00b7 Experience in building and sustaining partnerships with federal, state, and local stakeholders. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:u00b7 Knowledge of suicide prevention strategies at the national, state, and local levels.u00b7 Knowledge of mental health concerns and barriers to accessing supportive resources.u00b7 Skill in identifying best practices related to suicide prevention and veteran mental health.u00b7 Skill in generating and providing training on the unique needs and resources for veterans and families.u00b7 Ability to research, gather, assemble, and analyze data to devise strategies for improving suicide prevention efforts in rural and metropolitan areas.u00b7 Ability to prepare reports.u00b7 Ability to evaluate policies and procedures.u00b7 Ability to provide training to others about issues related to veteran suicide and mental health needs.u00b7 Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Environmental & Physical Conditions: Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds.
