A Brief Overview Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist by performing technical functions associated with drug distribution in accordance with specific provisions, standards, and State and Federal laws and regulations. Depending upon assignment, the principal areas of drug distribution may include unit dose, intravenous and oral drug compounding, TPN preparation, inventory control, automated dispensing equipment and related duties, as required. Customer service, teamwork and communication are important job functions. Essential Functions + u2022 Compounds and/or prepares medications (non-sterile & sterile products, oral, topical, etc) including all hazardous medications safely and accurately in a timely manner. u2022 Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with USP 795, 797 and 800 standards and other regulatory requirements which allow safe and accurate preparation and/or compounding of medications. This includes regular documentation of tasks in record-keeping systems. u2022 Delivers, exchanges medications to the respective patient care area and returns unused medications to the pharmacy u2022 Responds to and triages requests from customers for assistance with pharmacy services u2022 Operates and supports automated dispensing technology u2022 Appropriately utilizes and manages technology used in the day-to-day preparation, labeling and delivery of pharmaceutical care u2022 Responsible for maintaining established stock levels of medications and supplies within the pharmacy as well as patient care areas. u2022 Rotates inventory and completes expiration date management u2022 Completes regulatory compliance inspection of medication storage areas u2022 Participates in a variety of process improvement initiatives + Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job. + Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section Education Qualifications + Must be at least 18 years of age. Required and + High School Diploma Or GED equivalent Required Experience Qualifications + One year of pharmacy technician work experience working in a hospital pharmacy setting Preferred Skills and Abilities + Mathematical skills necessary for algebraic conversions, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division + Ability to communicate and interact effectively, professionally and courteously with other health care professionals, colleagues and customers + Strong Technology Skills + Takes responsibility for personal and professional growth Licenses and Certifications + PHRMTECH-R - Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Nebraska Required and + PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech from a Nebraska recognized national or local certification board within 9 months of hire. Must have certification within one year of state registration Required + Successful completion of security check in compliance with requirements set by the State of Nebraska required.
