Direct Service Advocate_Domestic Violence Shelter_PT Overnight Part TimeSpringfield, MA, US Requisition ID: 1982 Salary Range: $20.00 To$20.00 Hourly Job Title: Direct Service Advocate Schedule: Part-time;Friday/Saturday, 11pm-7am; 15 hours bi-weekly Reports to: AssistantProgram Director Starting Rate: $20.00, plus $1.25 for overnight shiftdifferential FLSA Status: Non-Exempt The YWCA of Western MA is dedicatedto eliminating racism and empowering survivors. The YW provides a safeplace for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and humantrafficking. Our programs and services include crisis shelter andtransitional housing for survivors and their families, counseling,SAFEPLAN court advocacy, community education, supervised visitation, andvocational training for youth. The YWCA provides services at severalsites, including Holyoke, Northampton, Westfield, and our primarySpringfield campus. Expectations of all employees In the performance ofessential and general job responsibilities, all YWCA employees areexpected to: Demonstrate commitment to the YW?s mission and principlesof trauma-informed work. Represent the YW in a professional andcompetent manner to participants, community members, organizationalpartners, and other stakeholders. Support policies, practices, anddecisions that demonstrate our shared accountability for racial municate openly and contribute to the development of others.Coordinate efforts across teams, programs, and partner organizations.Maintain professional behavior and strict confidentiality. PositionPurpose The Direct Service Advocate (DSA) is responsible for providingsupport, advocacy and role modeling to adult, teen, and child programparticipants living in the YWCA?s residential programs. DSA?s are partof a team model working with peers, supervisors, clinicians and outsideconnections to best serve program participants. DSA?s support the agencymission and trauma informed service model in order to provide safe,consistent and quality services to vulnerable populations. EssentialResponsibilities Conduct shelter intakes as needed. Provide crisisintervention as needed. Help residents become acquainted with shelterand other residents upon arrival. Provide counseling to resident uponarrival and as needed throughout their stay. Responsible for maintenanceand upkeep of the facility and property (including, but not limited to:vacuuming, laundry area, shoveling, mopping, and taking trash out).Ensure residents are following shelter schedule, including wake up timesas applicable. Enforce shelter rules and guidelines. Engage withresidents at meal time and ensure that residents clean up their areaprior to leaving dining area. Ensure completion of chores as plete all required paperwork and maintain client records. Attendmonthly staff meetings. Perform other related duties as needed.Qualifications Associate?s degree plus 1 - 3 years of experience inhuman services; Experience working in residential setting preferred;Familiarity with issues of domestic violence; Experience with survivorsof gender-based violence and exploitation; Experience addressing theimpacts of decisions and actions on multiple communities; Understandingof both interpersonal and structural racism and bias; Ability torepresent agency from a management perspective in an active unionenvironment; Excellent written and organizational skills includingcomputer skills; Reliable transportation, safe driving record, and validdriver?s license required. Must be able to be covered by the agency'sinsurance policy. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
