General Purpose The successful candidate in this position will provide professional accounting services utilizing appropriate accounting principles. Activities may include preparation and review of: journal entries and account reconciliations; work papers and other schedules; internal/external financial statements; management reports and analysis of financial, tax and/or economic data. Responsibilities u2022 Compile data, analyze, review and interpret financial results; including balance sheets and statements of operations. and statements of cash flows. u2022 Research retail invoicing and reconcile to the general ledger. u2022 Prepare bad debt analysis u2022 Prepare unbilled retail analysis u2022 Process transmission deposit refunds u2022 Reconcile transmission balance sheet accounts u2022 Prepare journal entries u2022 Compile, analyze and interpret data in preparation and/or review of PacifiCorpu2019s annual and quarterly reports filed with the FERC, including compilation of the FERC financial statements and review of consolidating entries for the FERC. u2022 Compile, analyze and interpret data in preparation of PacifiCorpu2019s annual and quarterly reports filed with the SEC and the companyu2019s state regulatory commissions. u2022 Research & interpret accounting and taxation rules including policies issued by governmental and regulatory bodies. u2022 Perform analytical and reporting tasks: gather information from other departments, interface with various levels of management and prepare and/or review of supporting work papers in a manner conducive to achieving compliance with our internal controls and procedures. u2022 Test and review accounting transactions for accuracy of entry and classification. u2022 Perform ad hoc reporting, including drafting of responses to data requests from state regulatory commissions, external auditors, other regulatory bodies and other internal requests. u2022 Notify business units and management of potential problems identified, which may be critical, complex, sensitive or urgent in nature, and work through resolutions as appropriate. u2022 Consult, resolve and/or recommend alternatives to internal/external customer issues which may be critical, complex, sensitive, or urgent in nature. Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. u2022 A minimum of five years relevant work experience that has contributed to the development of skills in accounting, including the ability to gather and analyze complex financial data and provide written explanations based upon analysis. u2022 Proficient with the use of personal computers, including spreadsheet applications, when conducting analysis and financial modeling. u2022 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. u2022 Ability to work with people at all levels of an organization, including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team. Preferences u2022 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or an advanced degree. u2022 SAP financial modules competence. u2022 General understanding of utility regulation and the FERC Code of Regulations. u2022 Advanced knowledge of GAAP, company accounting policies, procedures and practices and company accounting systems; an understanding of the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.
