Job Description

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Provides or directs client care utilizing the nursingprocess within an assigned area. As a member of the treatment team,coordinates the total care of all clients and provides client education.Additional pay incentives for working PM shift and NOC shift, as well aswhen working weekends Additional special assignment pay for .2, .4, andon-call positions All part-time and full-time nursing positions workevery other weekend Essential Duties Completes admissions/dischargesaccording to facility policies. Initiates, implements and updatesIntegrated Care Plans to provide holistic health care to clients.Assigns and supervises nursing care of clients by Nursing Assistants,Licensed Practical Nurses. Observes, assesses, implements and documentsnursing action in response to change in client behavior and/orcondition. Plans, implements and evaluates procedures that maintain safeclient care. Obtains and transcribes or countersigns all physicianorders. Administers or directs the administration of medications andtreatments. Initiates and/or assists with emergency and crisisintervention measures. Provides and/or directs client itiates and contributes to client discharge planning. Complies withdepartmental Quality Assurance Standards and participates in QualityAssurance monitoring. Assists Unit Manager in the completion of positionappraisals of Nursing Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses.Participates in the orientation of new personnel. Makes unit rounds andattends staffings with physicians, recording physician observations andorders. Inputs MDS (Minimum Data Set) data in the nursing facility.Performs related functions as assigned. OTHER EXPERIENCE ANDQUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and understanding of the terminology, theory,techniques and practices of professional nursing. Knowledge of a varietyof medications along with their side effects, side actions andcontraindications. Knowledge of basic abnormal behaviors and majormental illnesses. Knowledge of alcohol and other drug abuse dynamics,programs and treatment methods. Knowledge of adult medical problems andtreatment approaches. Ability to initiate, maintain and implement anIntegrated Care Plan. Ability to analyze symptoms and conditions andapply sound nursing principles in making decisions. Ability to maintainappropriate client caseload. Ability to deal with stress associated withthreatening and/or unpredictable client behavior. Ability to communicateeffectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish andmaintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff and thepublic. Ability to accept and adapt to change. Ability to understand andcarry out polices and procedures governing patient care. Ability todemonstrate leadership skills to direct and coordinate health teammembers.
