JOB REQUIREMENTS: A position with responsibility for assisting long-termcare residents with leisure and recreational activities that supportsimproved quality of life and socialization. Part-time, .4 positionavailable. Daytime hours on weekdays and weekends. Starts at $17.98,increasing to $18.57 after successful completion of 6-month initialemployment period Essential Duties Assists in creating a therapeuticatmosphere conducive to the mental health of residents. Providesresident care to meet the individual activity needs of the anizes and plans group and individual activities to meet resident'ssocial/emotional needs. Collaborates with others to establish and planmonthly groups and creates monthly Activity calendars. In conjunctionwith the facilities department maintains a clean, comfortable and safeenvironment for residents. Provides resident care to meet the physicalneeds of the residents such as feeding; as deemed appropriate afternecessary training Provides supportive care relative to the emotionaland psychosocial needs of residents. Implement individualized activityinterventions as outlined in resident care plans. In conjunction withthe therapy department and nursing department, provides activities orsimple food prep related to activities on the households as assigned.Takes residents on community outings for recreational or educationalpurposes and assists with other resident transportation needs. Observesresidents and reports any change in client behavior/condition toRegistered Nurse/ immediately and respond to emergency and crisissituations. Maintains the confidential nature of all residents andbusiness information. Attends staff meetings, attends in-service andoutside agency training sessions if appropriate. Assists with completionof Minimum Data Set interviews and documentation, as deemed appropriateafter necessary training. Assists in completing quarterly progress noteson each resident's status and participation in activities. Completesand maintains necessary documentation according to applicablerequirements, codes and policies. Completes all other duties asassigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting 30 pounds maximum with theassistance of another person, with frequent lifting and/or carrying ofobjects weighing up to 20 pounds. Extended periods of standing, walkingand sitting; occasional driving. Using hand(s) for repetitive singlegrasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, and operatingcontrols. Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, reaching andgrappling. Communicating orally in a clear manner. Distinguishing soundsat various frequencies and volumes. Distinguishing people or objects atvaried distances under a variety of light conditions. Must be free fromcommunicable disease. OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to organize, plan, lead and participate in activities.Activities may include arts and crafts, holiday events, outdooractivities, music or drama, religious activities, etc. Activities aremeant to foster socialization and relaxation and improve daily livingskills. Ability to recognize and address the physical, psychosocial,mental and emotional needs of residents. Ability to motivate residentsand observe individual resident responses during activity groups.Ability to carry out a nursing care plan and to follow oral and writteninstructions, as directed by the Registered Nurse. Ability to deal withstress associated with threatening or unpredictable behavior. Ability toestablish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships withresidents and family members. Ability to establish and maintaineffective public and working relationships with other employees. Abilityto communicate in a positive and effective manner both orally and inwriting. Ability to understand and carry out policies and proceduresgoverning resident care. Ability to work the required hours of the position. Current knowledge of procedures and techniques in providingroutine, non-professional nursing care to geriatric elderly,developmentally disabled, and mentally ill clients. Knowledge ofprinciples of documentation. Knowledge of basic principles of activetreatment.
