Senior Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer

Description Leidos Dynetics is seeking a motivated, detailed-oriented problem-solver to join our modeling and simulation team as a Lead Aerospace Modeling and Simulation Engineer in Charlottesville, VA. You will play a valuable part in developing and testing models of aerospace systems, to include air-launched weapons; ballistic missile systems; avionics; hypersonic vehicles; and guidance, navigation, and controls across a wide range of projects and programs. Primary Responsibilities + Develop, integrate, and test models of aerospace systems based on provided information, research, and engineering principles. + Assist in guiding a team of engineers in the development of representative flight models. + Document model performance against requirements. + Document algorithm design. + Work collaboratively with an engineering team comprised of internal and external team members. + Interact with external stakeholders to define requirements and perform model demonstrations. + Candidate must be local to or willing to relocate to the Charlottesville, VA area. Basic Qualifications + Candidate must possess a Bacheloru2019s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university with 4+ years applicable experience (or M.S. with 2+ years) + Experience with 3DOF/6DOF flight models + Experience with ballistic missiles, air-launched missiles, or hypersonic vehicles + Experience in MATLAB/Simulink + Experience in C++ or Python + Experience leading a team to meet customer requirements + Detailed understanding of the systems engineering process + Demonstrates solid understanding and intuition of the functionality and interdependency of aerospace systems + Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders + Organizational skills to document work and interface with team members to ensure flow of information + Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance + Candidate must meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Top Secret Clearance.
