Waterfront LifeguardCarry out the responsibilities of a Waterfront Lifeguard throughout the applicable program season. For Waterfront Lifeguard; successful in the completion of all aspects of certification in Lifeguard w/ waterfront module, CPR (BLS), ASHI Advanced First Aid, and passing (2) monthly in-services per month specific to physical ability and waterfront rescue & first aide/CPR knowledge.For more on Employee Perks, click on this link:Employee Benefits | YMCA of San Diego County (ymcasd.org)Schedule:Part-Time - Must be available during the waterfront operational hoursPractice preventative lifeguard techniques at all timesMaintain high standards of skill in First Aid, CPR, oxygen administration, and effective interface with local EMS agency personnelSupervise program participants at all timesTake full responsibility for the program areas of camp or assigned activity, including developing rules and procedures, ensuring adequate program supplies, and maintaining or improving equipment and facilitiesEnsure program operating procedures are being followed at all timesUse good judgment; make conservative decisions all to ensure the safety of the childrenFollow all rules and instructions, carry, and use properly necessary equipment during activities, know and follow waterfront/camp emergency proceduresDemonstrate a strong sense of investment in the YMCA by actively supporting the cleanliness of facilities, care of equipment and supplies, and stewardship of the natural environmentWork effectively and cooperatively with the team of other camp counselors and directorsEnsure proper care of waterfront, including appropriate use and accurate inventory of program equipmentMust be at least 18 years of age or older and have obtained high school diploma or GEDCurrent certification in First Aid and CPR-Pro (BLS) O2 and First Aid from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health InstituteSuccessful completion of on-site Waterfront Guarding training and monthly in-service drills and trainingSuccessful completion of on-site ASHI Advanced First Aid course and monthly in-service drills and trainingExperience working a waterfront environment preferredGood customer service and communication skills when interacting with children, parents, and the communityCPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:American Red CrossAmerican Heart AssociationAmerican Safety & Health InstituteYMCA will consider qualified applicants with a criminal history pursuant to the San Diego County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act.
