As experts in communication, these specialists assess, diagnose,treatand prevent speech, language,voiceand swallowing disorders from birth through old age. Speech Pathologists can help patients improve their speech, open new communication possibilities, and improve their ability tocomprehendothers, express oneself, communicate more effectively in social settings, and swallowsafely.By joining the Indian River team as a Speech Pathologist, you will work with both in-patient and outpatient speech patients,focusing on dysphagia, voice,andaphasia.You will also perform Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies in this role.This is a dedicated, collaborative team that will help you to advance your skills and one that encouragesgrowth.A caregiver in this position worksPRN (as needed)from9:00AM - 4:00PM.A caregiver who excels in this role will:Evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for the rehabilitation of patients with functional limitations,impairmentsand disorders.Provide, interpret,planand supervise patient evaluations and treatmentsin accordance withthephysicianreferral, ensuring the care,safetyand wellbeing of the patient.Continually review the plan of care and make revisions as needed.Prepare progress reports on all treatments in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures and report to the physician as struct and counsel medical staff and family members toassistthe patient in treatment techniques.Perform voice evaluations, treatment of various voicedisordersand bedside swallow evaluations.Demonstrate competency with the MBSs for adults and pediatrics.Follow Code Blue and all protocols as per Clinic policy.Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by the Joint Commission.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Masters, Doctorate or SLP-D Degree from an accredited School of Speech-Language PathologyRegistered in the State of FloridaCurrent Speech-Language Pathology License (SP) from the State Board of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology or eligibleSpeech Pathologist (SP) license in the state of FloridaCertification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American-Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA)Externship experiencePreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:Laryngectomy experiencePersonal Protective Equipment:Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.Pay RangeSalaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
