Employment Type: Part time Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift Description: The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) is responsible for direct patient care tasks as assigned and under supervision of professional nursing personnel. Also provides indirect care to maintain unit functions as directed by the professional nursing staff i.e. care and cleaning of specific equipment, transportation of patients, stocking of supplies and equipment, etc. Position Purpose: The Patient Care Assistant (uncertified, certified, unlicensed, or licensed) works in a collaborative environment at Nazareth Hospital to provide safe, quality health care services & / or assistance to patients under the supervision & direction of a registered nurse or other designated health care professional in accordance with level of experience, education, policies & procedures. What You Will Do: + Employment Type/Shift: Per Diem Days + Entry level position that provides training to function in an assistive role to the licensed nurse or other colleagues by performing patient care Activities of Daily Living (ADL) as delegated by the nurse. + Participates in continuous surveillance, rounding or monitoring for safety. + Offer compassion & patience as an essential member of the healthcare team (e.g., answering call lights, patient encouragement / greeting, stock / retrieve supplies or equipment, room turnover, mobilize patients, repositioning, transporting, discharge coordination). + Completes admissions according to policy (room setup, vital signs, orientation, etc.)u2022 Prioritizes and organizes work assignment and adjusts priorities based on changing situations in conjunction with licensed nursing personnel.u2022 Completes work within assigned time frame.u2022 Monitors patient condition per policy.u2022 Monitors patient for potential risk factors.u2022 Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes careu2022 Includes pain management and supportive care issues.u2022 Assumes accountability for the delivery of patient care within the scope of nursing assistant.u2022 Responsible for learning policies and nursing procedure applicable to nursing assistants and communicates to others.u2022 Demonstrates attributes necessary to function as a team member, i.e. answers call lights promptly and courteously regardless of
