Part of Piedmont Healthcare network of hospitals and radiation oncology centers in GA.RESPONSIBLE FOR:Provides physics services related to the planning and delivery of therapeutic radiation treatment in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription. Provides technical leadership including clinical set-up expertise to radiation oncologists, dosimetrists and therapists. Performs quality assurance checks according to regulatory requirements and industry standards for all department equipment. Serves as a mentor and team lead for staff medical physicists. Reports to the Manager for Radiation Physics.Core Responsibilities:The lead physicist along with 2 other staff physicists will oversee all technical aspects of radiation oncology services, including treatment equipment, treatment planning systems, treatment delivery, and ancillary equipment and systems.Develop and maintain an effective program of quality assurance for radiation oncology equipment and software applications including CT simulation, treatment planning, machine calibration, and performance of all related equipment. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory, professional, and national standards.Server as a resource and participate in routine patient-related clinical procedures, including simulation, treatment planning and weekly patient chart reviews.Supervise physics and dosimetry staff, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and professional development.Provide input and guidance on equipment procurement, evaluation of new treatment technologies, regulatory compliance, and billing practices.MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:Master's of Science in Medical Physics, or related discipline.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Five years of clinical experience as a medical physicist in a radiation therapy department.MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiation Physics Ability to be listed as an authorized medical physicist on the State of Georgia Radioactive Material Licenses Participation in the American Board of Radiology Maintenance of Certification ProgramADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Master's or PhD degree in medical physics or related discipline.Certified in therapeutic medical physics from the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or equivalent certification from the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine (CCPM) or the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) required.Ten years of work experience as a Medical Physicist in a full-service radiation therapy centerA minimum of 3 years of leadership experience or leading teams in a technical field.Radiation Oncology equipment:2 recently installed Varian TrueBeam Linacs1 Varian EDGE Radiosurgery LinacVarian Cloud ARIA/Eclipse TPS 16.1Elekta Flexitron HDRSiemens Somatom.GO AI-Assisted CT simulatorPET/CT- On Hospital CampusA wide range of physics QA ToolsPiedmont Columbus Midtown
