Senior Payroll Analyst

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Analyst to join our team on a long-term contract basis. In this role, you will oversee payroll processing activities for a large workforce, ensuring tax compliance and accuracy while adhering to federal, state, and local regulations. Based in Richmond, Virginia, this position requires a proactive individual with strong attention to detail, expertise in payroll systems, and a commitment to continuous process improvement. Responsibilities: u2022 Manage semi-monthly payroll processing and tax-related tasks for a workforce of approximately 21,000 employees using Workday. u2022 Ensure compliance with multi-state tax regulations, including timely deposits, filings, and audits. u2022 Analyze and resolve tax issues, including researching notifications and reconciling payroll tax forms such as W-2s and 941s. u2022 Collaborate with service providers to oversee tax filings and invoice reconciliations. u2022 Conduct detailed research and analysis to address payroll-related challenges and recommend sustainable solutions. u2022 Lead process improvement initiatives, including project work and presenting actionable recommendations to senior management. u2022 Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, providing guidance and implementing necessary adjustments. u2022 Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand and address business needs effectively. u2022 Provide oversight and expertise to local payroll teams, driving standardization and consistency. u2022 Stay updated on payroll policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and best practices across the organization. Requirements u2022 A minimum of 7 years of experience in payroll processing and management. u2022 Proficiency in Workday Payroll and SmartCompliance systems. u2022 Strong knowledge of payroll tax reporting and compliance, including multi-state regulations. u2022 CPP certification is preferred. u2022 Experience with full-cycle payroll for large organizations (500+ employees). u2022 Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve complex payroll tax issues. u2022 Expertise in process improvement and implementing sustainable solutions. u2022 Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
