FTE: 0.525000 Standard Hours: 21.00 Shift: Shift 4 Shift Details:Holidays: Weekends: Job Summary: The Administrative Supervisor is anursing formal leader who Represents administration during evening,night, weekend and holiday shifts and has oversight for the decisionsimpacting effective and efficient clinical operations and nursing caredelivery. Serves as the highest on-site authority for the Department ofNursing during evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts. Takesdirection from Nursing Director on Call and the Hospital Administratoron call. Serves as a liaison to, consults with or escalates issues toon-call leaders within Risk Management, Human Resources, PublicRelations and Emergency Management. Serves as an expertadministrative or clinical resource in complex, high-risk orproblem-prone situations and intervenes accordingly. Provides directionto assistant nurse managers, charge nurses and other staff. Coordinates and facilitates the placement of patients according toestablished criteria. Acts collaboratively as a liaison between theDepartment of Nursing and the Access Center, Admitting, SurgicalServices, Emergency Department, Cath Lab and Interventional Radiology toanticipate and expedite timely patient placement. Responsible forassuring appropriate staffing and resource management on off-shifts,weekends or holidays. Collaborates with Logistics staff, ChargeNurses/Shift flow coordinators to ensure that there are appropriatenumbers and competent staff to care for patients on all units and thatstaffing decisions are made according to staffing matrix and acuity ofthe patients. Applies knowledge of the scope of practice of eachnursing unit and its operations in decision-making or consultation.Knowledge of sound nursing practice, overall hospital administration,emergency management, crisis intervention, conflict resolution,negotiation, and delegation are essential to effective performance. Reports to Nurse Manager of Hospital Capacity Resource Management who inturn reports to the Director of Nursing Hospital Ca pacity Management.EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience inwhich leadership competence has been demonstrated is required.A minimumof 2 years of experience in a leadership role (e.g. Charge RN,Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager) is preferred. Additional specialtynursing experience (e.g. critical care) is preferred. EDUCATIONDESCRIPTION: Degree in Nursing (Baccalaureate or Graduate) is required.If in position as of December 1, 2012, this educational requirement willbe waived. Graduate Degree (Nursing or Related Field) is preferred.SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION: Knowledge of nursing theory and practice andability to apply that knowledge by appropriate integration of nursingpractice into multiple acute care settings. Ability to motivate, inspireand support nursing staff and colleagues to attain excellence inprofessional nursing practice. Ability to work effectively and developpositive working relationships with leaders, staff and physicians in alllevels of the organization. Excellent written and verbal communicationskills. LICENSURE DESCRIPTION: Requires current state of WisconsinRegistered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from aparticipating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). Certificationin a Nursing Specialty (e.g. Nursing Executive) is preferred.
