GI Applications Intern

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Description JOB OBJECTIVE: The scientist willsupport and participate in Genetic Identity Applications lab activitiesas assigned by the GI Applications, Technical Support and TrainingManager. Applications activities may include nucleic acid extractionfrom various sample types, measurements of extracted nucleic quantityand quality, as well amplification and analysis of data generated fromthese extracts. CORE DUTIES: 1. Performs chemical and biologicaltechniques according to Promega protocols. Techniques may include DNAisolation, quantification, amplification, detection, and analysis. municate experimental goals, methods, results and conclusions throughwritten reports and oral presentations. 3. Maintain clear and completerecords of laboratory procedures and results. 4. Perform experimentswith Promega products based on customer inquiries and concerns and insupport of product development efforts. Communicate results toappropriate staff. 5. Understand and comply with all elements of thePromega Quality System outlined for the position. 6. Demonstratesinclusion through their own words and actions and is accountable for asafe workspace. Acts with kindness, curiosity and respect for others. 7.Embracing and being open to incorporating Promega's 6 Emotional &Social Intelligence (ESI) core principles in daily work. 8. Understandsand complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicableto our business. KEY QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Currently enrolled in a lifesciences undergraduate program in forensic science, biology,biochemistry, molecular biology, or similar. Completed three years ofcourse and laboratory work prior to Summer 2025. 2. Ability to followaseptic practices with precision and care in laboratory environments. 3.Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and with otherteam members in a cooperative manner. 4. Experience using pipettes. 5.Excellent verbal and written communication skills. PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS: 1. Experience with basic molecular biology techniquesincluding nucleic acid purification, PCR, and electrophoresis. 2.Experience with handling biological samples. 3. Computer background andexperience with Windows based programs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Ability towork with computer equipment frequently. 2. Ability to wear safetyequipment (lab coat, goggles, gloves, etc.). 3. Ability to work at a labbench and with a fume hood frequently. 4. Ability to work routinely withbiological samples.
