JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary Provide medical direction for VersitiDiagnostic Hematology laboratories to include hemostasis, platelet andneutrophil immunology and hematology genetics. Key components of thisposition comprise clinical and scientific direction to include casereview, clinical consultation, and associated assay development.Responsible for delegated regulatory duties under CLIA. Participate ineducational initiatives and clinical/applied research within bothVersiti and its affiliated health systems. Responsibilities Providesclinical case review & consultation with DL clients and physicians onhematology-related test results and transfusion medicine physiciansregarding development, utilization, and quality assessment ofhemostasis-related blood products. Provides medical direction, includingcompliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accreditationagencies, for hematology diagnostic services at Versiti DiagnosticLaboratories (DL). Adheres to Versiti, CLIA, Biosafety, NRC, FDA, andOSHA procedures and regulations. Collaborates with laboratory leadershipof diagnostic hematology laboratory staff to oversee technical dutiesand working with Versiti laboratory management to provide educationaland skill advancement. Partners with the DL product development team todevelop innovative diagnostic solutions in hematology. Participates inclinical and/or applied research at Versiti, industry partners, orpartner hospitals, and publishes in peer-reviewed journals. Fosterseducation of associates, as well as medical and lay persons throughparticipation in Versiti educational offerings and activities. Maintainsa high level of professional expertise in laboratory medicine,hematology, and other areas of medical expertise with demonstration ofongoing continued medical education in the field. Serves on appropriateVersiti committees and in other professionally related local, regional,and national opportunities. Participates in academic programs atacademic institutions as needed. Maintains a high level of communityinvolvement and supports Public Relations outreach efforts. Maintainsmedical records and related documentation in accordance with legal andorganizational requirements. Demonstrates Versiti core values. Performs other duties as required or assignedwhich are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this jobclassification Understands and performs in accordance with allapplicable regulatory and compliance requirements Complies with allstandard operating policies and procedures Qualifications Education M.D.or D.O. or M.D./Ph.D. with clinical training and board certification inclinical pathology and/or combined anatomic and clinical pathologyrequired M.D. or D.O. or M.D./Ph.D. with clinical training and boardcertification in adult or pediatric hematology will also be consideredin lieu of required degree Laboratory experience in hematology requiredCurrent or eligible for a medical license in Wisconsin. requiredExperience Demonstrated training and experience in pathology/laboratorymedicine or clinical hematology required Experience in basic, clinical,or translational research, as evidenced by publications andpresentations preferred Demonstrated leadership and team buildingabilities preferred Knowledge of and commitment to excellence inlaboratory medicine preferred Demonstrated potential for serving as anactive collaborator who has the desire and growing skill set to guide rbe a resource to clinical hematologists, clinical trial sponsors, andhematology researchers preferred Demonstrated innovative and progressiveapproach to continuous improvement in areas of responsibility preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of clinical and laboratorymedicine required Ability to read and interpret SOPs, and state,federal, and national regulations and standards as they apply tolaboratory medicine (i.e., FDAFood and Drug Administration, CAPCollegeof American Pathologists) required Strong interpersonal skills and ableto work within a team required Strong computer literacy with ability toeasily interact within system based electronic medical and laboratoryrecords required Self-driven and accountable required Exceptionalorganizational skills with the ability to prioritize and executemultiple tasks and meet deadlines preferred Excellent consultative andconsensus building skills.
