Summary Position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. Responsibilities This is an open continuous announcement to fill Staff Psychologist vacancies in the Mental Health Care Line at the Cincinnati VA Medical Center. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available or until all vacancies are filled. Staff Psychologists at this level diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological or neuropsychological assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders, and may conduct research. They may be assigned to any program area. Psychologists who are not licensed must practice under the close supervision of a licensed psychologist. The position entails the assessment and provision of substance use disorder-related and mental health treatment for veterans presenting to the Substance Dependence Program (SUDEP). The Psychologist will primarily work with patients in the outpatient SUDEP clinic. They will be responsible for the intake and assessment of veteran's entering SUDEP. The individual completes the intake process which includes: Mental Health Intake, related clinical reminders, consent to treatment, and determines appropriate level of care. The Psychologist will independently identify high-risk patients and provide referrals to appropriate case manager or may serve as a temporary case manager while veteran waits for admission to SUDEP clinical care and/or residential treatment. The incumbent conducts psychosocial assessments to assess substance use and risk factors among veterans participating in SUD care. The incumbent develops an integrated diagnostic summary, to include a SNAP assessment to document strengths, needs, abilities and preferences. The incumbent also gives presentations to the VA staff in both Psychology Service and the SUDEP program. Psychologists diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological or neuropsychological assessments, treat mental disorders through a variety of modalities, and provide adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders. Psychologists consult with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues. Staff psychologists may be involved in program evaluation, teaching, training, and research activities. Provides clinical supervision to various disciplines and levels of training. Supervises students at practicum, internship, and fellowship levels. Provides leadership guidance and consultation to staff on units to which assigned. 6. Attends Psychology staff meetings once monthly.
