Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (1 to 5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The PVAHCS Medical Center is in need of an Interventional Cardiologist in cardiology services five days per week, with rotating weekend coverage and evening and weekend call, when necessary. Clinic services are required five days per week which includes patient examinations, patient education for procedure preparation, contacting patients with procedure results, and consult triaging. Cardiac Catheterization Lab services are required five days per week. However, in emergent situations, evening and weekends procedures may be necessary. All medical record documentation will be done in the Computer Patient Record System (CPRS). Patients include all conditions and diseases relating to cardiology specialty. The Interventional Cardiologist must be board certified in Interventional Cardiology. The Interventional Cardiologist is required to be credentialed and privileged at the Phoenix VA Health Care System, and abides by the rules and bylaws of the medical staff. The Interventional Cardiologist Will have Responsibility for, But Not Limited To: Cardiology Clinic to include examination of patients and establish medical diagnoses by client history, physical examination. Cardiology core privileges: Admit, evaluate, diagnose, and treatment or consultative services to patients presenting with diseases of the heart, lungs, blood vessels and cardiovascular disease. Privileges include electrical cardioversion, insertion and management of central venous and pulmonary artery catheters, use of thrombolytic agents, pericardiocentesis, echocardiography interpretation including stress echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), Holter and treadmill interpretation, temporary transvenous pacemaker placement, right heart catheterization, intra-aortic balloon pump placement, and electrocardiography interpretation. If certified in Interventional Cardiology, the physician is required to have training and experience in coronary angiogram, coronary atherectomy, coronary angioplasty, coronary artery stenting, coronary intravascular ultrasound, FFR and iFR, and insertion of intra-aortic balloon pump and/or impella. Experience in peripheral angiograms and peripheral interventions, ICD, permanent pacemaker insertion including single and dual chamber pacemakers as well as bi-ventricular pacemakers is preferred. The Interventional Cardiologist is also required to provide support for the cardiology fellowship site director in accordance with the recommendations of the program director at Banner University Medical Center. The Interventional Cardiologist will be expected to participate in intramural and extramural research projects. All patient data, (history, evaluation, findings, recommendations, requests for laboratory and x-ray studies, etc.) shall be entered into the patient's chart electronically. The Interventional Cardiologist shall have computer and typing skills commensurate with this requirement. Documentation shall be in accordance with the bylaws, policy, and regulations established by the VA and PVAHCS or the facility in which the care is provided. The Interventional Cardiologist shall explain procedures, risks, and potential benefits to the patient and/or guardian, obtain proper VA consents, and any other requirements as established by VA and PVAHCS policy and/or directive. Work Schedule: 8:00AM-4:30PM Monday through Friday (Rotating weekend coverage and evening and weekend call, when necessary) Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
