Education and Experience Requirements High SchoolDiploma or GED required. 2 years experience in wood finishing.Experience in aerospace industry preferred. Basic knowledge of cabinetfinishing processes and products. Position Purpose: Under generalsupervision, prepares and applies finishes to aircraft furniture usingaircraft specifications, designs and engineering drawings with a highlevel of safety, quality, detail and productivity. Assists team memberswith greater experience to enhance techniques supportive of qualityworkmanship. Job Description Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Essential Functions: Works under general supervision to preparefurniture for finish and disassembly using blueprints, aircraftspecifications and design/engineering drawings. Performs high qualityrepairs to various finished surfaces in the shop and aboard aircraft.Cleans and polishes blemishes as needed to prepare the aircraft fordelivery. Applies finish to furniture using spray equipment and othermanual/mechanical methods. Uses various types of sandpapers, polishes,adhesives, masking mediums, solvents, finish materials, hand tools andvarious power tools to disassemble and finish furniture. Complies withall safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies. Uses personal protectiveequipment to protect aircraft interior (PTP). . Uses the materialtracking system to create parts demand, track squawks and to sign-offwork. Additional Functions: Works with lead and higher skilledtechnicians to develop and implement process improvements that increasesafety, reduce, cost, cycle time, and man-hours using Lean Six-Sigma andother process improvement techniques. .
